Not defending him. I know next to nothing about him, but people mature at different rates. A 25 year old is not necessarily more mature than a 21 year old, just like a 30 year old is not necessarily more mature than a25 year old. Dino, can you honestly tell me that you never did anything stupid/dumb when you were 25? I know I sure did.

I agree with Wylie. Until I had kids I acted like a kid even in my mid 20s.

Exactly. I don’t care what color or gender you are either. Treat the law officers with respect and they will respond in kind and if they don’t then they should be investigated and either remediated or fired.

If you say “I am going to kill you pig”. Yes they should be arrested. 100%.

who said they were just saying something disrespectful? there are other ways to be disrespectful. And a police officer can almost always find something to give someone a ticket for, usually a valid reason.

Bad luck is looking for a fight again. Police officers are not the villains 99% of the time. Stop concentrating on the 1% of the time that they are.

I agree with most of this, but even in my limited experience with the police, they are not always respectful, even if you are. I once got stopped (back when I drove a limo) at like 3 in the morning. I was heading back to the garage after a long day. The officer kept implying I was drinking. I politely explained I was just really tired and only wanted to go home. He was pretty nasty and kept saying he knew the owner of the company, and he should tell the owner I was driving drunk (even though I was not, and there was no alcohol in the vehicle). He finally let me go, but he was an ******* and I was poliet and respectful the whole time. To make matters worse he did tell my boss that I was very disrespectful and nasty to him. The only thing I was was tired.

You don't get to respectfully disagree on freedom of speech.

Cops deserve respect but, like you and me, they aren't legally protected from insults. Anyone can say anything to a cop that they can legally say to anyone else (with the exception of material lies under oath). The cops can't arrest you or ticket you for being an *******.

Did you report him? I would have. Perhaps I am lucky but I have yet to have a tough experience with a police officer. Knock on wood. All have been positive and very polite. Usually helpful. One time I had a blow out and the state trooper waited with me on the side of the highway until AAA arrived. He told me that under no circumstances should I be changing my own tire on the Mass Pike. A really nice person.

cccp. He said respect cops or expect a retort. I asked what he means by retort. dino gave an example with the cop responding with "sticks and stones..."

Then you said if it continues the person should be ticketed or arrested.

That's not the way it works.
