you can of course transfer your user name and all teams to someone - change the password and the profile info and transfer

but no, they will not let folks transfer one team to another owner

I am pretty sure they meant you cannot transfer the account/user name even if you are changing the password/profile info.

hard for WIS to know - if you give someone your password (i would recommend changing temporarily to a password that isnt yours for the transfer)

First paragraph is flat out incorrect. There was a big to-do around this at GD this week.

wow, sorry - used to be easy - and for example folks do that often when they get a friend to handle their team while on vacation if they are in a location that is offline. Harsh if even that isnt allow

The temporary, vacation transfer was listed as 'ok' in the site mail announcement. It's the wholesale permanent transfer of the whole ID that is completely disallowed. It always has been disallowed but seble has just clarified the issue.

They told me it’s ok to do it for a week or so, but long term or permanent transfers aren’t allowed.

I dont know how they plan to handle enforcement. The only people they’re going to catch are the honest ones. I think the close account threat is intended to be a deterrent. But I don’t really know what they’re thinking here.

Right. I don’t think this was ever an issue before this past week. If it was always disallowed, it was one of those things buried in the terms of agreement.

Technically, I’ve always been the owner of this handle, since I’ve used the same credit card as my original handle. When my son was playing as shoe3, he was 16, and he lost interest 4 and 1/2 years ago. So I’ve personally paid for (or earned by incentive) every credit this handle has used.

Yeah I think through the discussion (on the GD boards), it became apparent to seble that there were a lot of violations over the years, many due to the fact that this was indeed buried in the terms.

Same here. Original handle tem316 was mind, and my son was wvufan76. He actually got bored before his gift ten pack was warm (HD just cannot compete with XBOX on line) so I finished off what games I had, and started using wvufan76 as mine. These situations are not what the issue is.

I wonder whether they care more about it now that WIS is part of a broader gaming site in which money can be won. Could even be regulatory reasons that they care about this - in different ways than they used to??

I think this is the real concern. There is probably a Federal statute somewhere that prohibits the transfer of online gambling site accounts for, if nothing else, tax purposes.

or extra compliance burden for them - know your customer rules? or procedures about reporting winnings to the IRS? the gaming aspect changes their perspective I bet...hah, I said "bet" unintentionally

Nobody else? Ok I'll say it...there's an admin that's paying attention to WIS again?!?!!!!!!

Sadly this was my main take-away from the sitemail.
