In case you're responding to me, my "I don't think that's correct," is referring to the hierarchy of safety nets and the communities and states abdicating responsibility.

I don't consider social security a safety net. It's a mandatory investment (retirement) plan that produces terrible returns. It is a bad program that attempts to save people from themselves.

It is a safety net.

It is not an investment.

You're not getting back what you put in. You're getting excess productivity of current workers. Your share is calculated by how much you produced when you were working.

The fact that you think it's a weird standard says a lot. You have no appreciation for self-accountability. Choices come with consequences. People who are on a path towards success weigh the risk/reward of their decisions. They make calculated decisions. Not every choice works out for the positive, but you greatly increase your odds.

not quite the same thing. strikeout is saying is you work hard and make good choices you have a better chance at success than someone who does not work hard and does not always make good choices. Personally, I can't really argue with that. Its not foolproof, but you are more likely to be successful. That is only logical. It doesn't guarantee success, but your odds are better.
BL saying he knows for a fact that anyone who voted for Trump is a complete idiot is a very stupid thing to say. There's no way anyone could know that for a fact, since it isn't one. Its like me saying I know for a fact that all Red Sox fans are morons. I don't know that for a fact. It is just what I believe!

nobody said all rich guys work harder than all poor guys, just that you have better odds of being rich/successful if you work hard and make good choices that your odds if you are lazy and don't make good choices. I don't see how you can argue with that.

Where can I find this magical crossroads of life that points me the way to a good decision every time I have to make one. I would love to find it.


I know plenty of people that work as hard as any other human and have no wealth or riches to show for it.

A "good" decision could have been, "doing that line of coke with a dude in college who ends up being your best friend because your best friend ended up in a position to get you ahead in life.

A bad decision would have been, not doing that line of coke and ending up teaching in high school, in that situation.


Life isn't black and white, there's a whole lot that goes on that makes us who and what we are, a lot of it out of our control.
