wvu,
They're both backups. The team is ranked. The Jr starter is likely 1st team All Conference.
Over the long term the FR is clearly a better option. But the preconference schedule is a nightmare with 6 ranked opponents. So the question is should I play the SR or the FR? Am I going to gain more/be hurt less by the SR with higher IQ and better games skills or the FR with better physical skills?
its not even close, the way you phrase it - which i'm reading as, who is better now. the SR is WAY better. its better to think of abilities than ratings (same goes for that PF you like who has far better ratings than abilities - with the latter being all that really matters).
so, lets break down the 3 abilities you should care about in your position, for a PF - defense, rebounding, and offense.
offensively, both players are pretty poor, and these guys are backups anyway where typically offense is even less important - slight edge for the senior, but not an important one.
on rebounding, player 1 is way better. rebounding is by far the most important attribute for the rebounding ability, with ath and IQ being the only other meaningful attributes (in zone - in press, also stamina). player 1 has 21 reb and way better IQ, vs 6 ath - not even close. for a backup PF, rebounding is almost always the most important attribute, especially in d3. in this regard, its the SR by a mile.
on defense, player 1 is substantially better. you are running zone, and in zone, def, blk, and ath are the three cores that make up the defensive ability, with IQ being substantially important. player 2 has 7 def and 6 ath, but that is dwarfed by player 1's 35 sb advantage and his huge IQ advantage. frankly, its not really even close.
when you look at it like that - there's no contest at all.
