"That's where the grassroots stuff comes in. That working in tandem with the better social programs will make a difference."

I'm just going to respond to this because it should cover everything else. This needs to be done at the local level. What you and your dad is great. That is real change. What the dumbass democrats in Washington do does nothing. This is proven. All they are doing is pandering for votes. Who can give out more freebies? It's a contest for them. They don't give a **** about people. You have Bernie screaming about "income inequality" while he has THREE vacation homes. The democrats in Washington are classless self-pandering *** holes. What your family does is genuine.

No, I completely agree with this. Some state/federal funding is needed, but it should be personalized at a local level. Give them the money and get the hell out of the way.

this country has safety nets because of the dems.
and voting rights.
the dems need to have congress in order to bring progress.
This is the kind of attitude that leads to such divisive rhetoric throughout our political system. "My party is the only one that supports democracy."

Plus, I mean, you bring up voting rights and then say the Dems are the ones that bring progress. But the two biggest progressive jumps in voting rights in US history have both been orchestrated by Republicans...

It's a massive fallacy to assume only one party can support "progress." Progress is far too broad and abstract a conception to assume only one party can achieve it. You're narrowly defining progress as progress on the agenda you happen to support.

@Tang. I don't disagree with that, but I would wager that is because of democratic policies. As I said, it's very hard to start a business in America. It is nearly impossible for someone who was born poor. The democrats have regulated and taxed the life out of small business. They have also killed all incentive to hire. They are against prosperity, because they know that if people prosper they will not have a need for their "safety nets" which as you can see from the current field of presidential candidates is pretty much their whole platform. Even global warming is now taking a back seat.
I don't believe in your conspiracy theory crap. I am all for small business. I don't see how increasing funding for education and childcare is against prosperity.

Again, keep in mind that I am against raising welfare money and the minimum wage. I completely agree that raising those costs is dumb and hurts small business.
This isn't a conspiracy theory. It's truth. How many businesses have you started? How many people have you employed? The regulations and taxes alone make it unbearable for most. These are the democrat's programs. You never answered my question from earlier. Wages aside, how much do you think you cost your employer every pay period?

both parties could support and protect progress.

but there always has to be a party that the white bigots feel comfortable in.

@Tang, I don't know enough about Brownback to say why his policies didn't work. I actually know nothing about him other than he was a republican and you guys enjoyed grabbing a nice steak together. We may agree on his core ideologies, but that doesn't mean that I would have agreed with the policies that were enacted while he was governor. You can't say he is proof that my ideas don't work if I don't know what he put in place. Also, there is a lot more to financial success of a state than policies. How is the housing market there? Did any big companies move in or leave? Questions like that would need to be answered.

Also, what do you mean by he was a failure? Does your economy suck? Did you not like his social policies? I don't exactly follow Kansas politics. I mean the Chiefs got better under him, so he must have done something right. Correct?

Why do you make comments like this? What does this possibly add to a conversation? If you are going to make these statements, please name the bigots you're referring to and give some examples.

There are bigots in both parties. Yours is not an exception.

I haven't started a business because I have no interest to. I have a classmate or two who did.

I don't know.

Yes.

Did you not like his social policies?

Yes.

Well, the Chiefs are located in Missouri, so technically I can't give that one to Brownback. And Brownback's first year was the Chiefs' worst, 2012.

I can give him Sporting KC's Championship in 13, though.

Here's the thing Dino, I like you but you're a troll. You come in and post a unsubstantiated nonsense and then refuse to engage in any kind of intellectual dialogue. People like you lead to the divisiveness in this country.

Tang and me come from different political backgrounds, but we have civil dialogue and usually find common ground. He has softened me on some issues and I have softened him on some.

B_L and me think we are on polar ends of the political spectrum. We still have civil dialogue and allow each other to see differing viewpoints. We don't normally find any common ground, but that's okay. He has actually changed my mind on a couple of topics.

But you just come in here and spew hatred and then try to escape by calling others bigots and saying your views are the only humane views. You need to grow up and learn how to have a thoughtful conversation.
