Elite recruit wants rebuild advice Topic

I recently came across one of the top recruits in the country who wants a rebuild situation and it has me curious as I match up really well with his preferences which I’ve listed below. My cause for concern is the fact that all the elite (high prestige) schools will no doubt be in on him and my question here is will prestige ultimately trump wants rebuild preference or do C- teams such as myself have a shot at players like this?

Wants to play- very good (promise start, 25 min)
Wants rebuild- good
Motion- very good
Man to man- very good
Long time coach- neutral

Worth a shot, absolutely. You’ll have the APs and enough preference advantage to stay in angainst anyone. Don’t expect local teams to lay down, but you should definitely be going after game changers like this when you have this kind of advantage.

Also, you may want to redact specific info (overall rank) about the recruit, and refer to him in general terms. It may or may not violate fair play guidelines to talk specifically about a recruit in play, and even if not, you don’t need to tip rivals off.

I don't know man... has a C- school ever landed a #1 recruit in 3.0?

Thanks shoe. My initial thought was I’m not as concerned with the A+ prestige schools as I am the high C’s/low b’s which will only be neutral in wants rebuild versus the elite teams being bad. The more I thought about it, I just didn’t wanna pursue a recruit like this only to get smoked by a stud team in the end and waste time and resources so figured I’d get some advice beforehand.

I recommend against it with a C- prestige. The long time coach preference will bury you, especially considering you aren't at very good in that category.

If you have very good for long time coach preference and distance, then we could probably have a discussion about it.

You would have to rely too much on the say other two elite prestige teams, you could be battling against, not putting in a lot of effort and even then, it would be a miracle for a C- team just to get to high and you're possibly looking at 25-30% signing odds.

If you do decide to at least give it a try initially, make sure to look at the teams you're competing against and how their preferences match up to that recruit. If you start off with putting in 80 APs on the first cycle and another team is considerably ahead of you, say very high to moderate, it's time to pull out and re-adjust your strategy.

Thanks for the insight wiz! So basically wants rebuild favors elite teams unless you’re a long time mediocre coach at the same school who matches up perfectly in other categories the recruit prefers haha.

Yeah I think I’ll test the waters early and see what happens.

You get a small boost with the rebuild preference, but don't think it's nearly enough to overcome an A+ prestige team in recruiting.

I remembered when 3.0 first came out and high prestige teams would shy away from a recruit because they had the rebuild preference, which seems absurd.

If the only preference a recruit has is "rebuild" , even with the same effort by both teams, that lower prestige isn't coming near that recruit.

Distance, playing time and long term coach seems to be 3 of those most important preferences that carry the most weight. I might be slightly off there, however, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Success/rebuild is the most impactful preference; distance is the only one in its league, from what I’ve seen (playing time is a different animal altogether). The neutral in long time coach won’t hurt him nearly as much as the good vs very bad advantage he’ll have in rebuild. He likely won’t be able to win without battle, because high prestige teams can compete for anyone, given enough resources. There will certainly be a battle, and it’s likely he’ll end up behind. But he won’t get shut out, unless he’s timid with the AP and effort. When you are C- and have a chance to get in on a shake with this kind of guy, gotta take it.

Not sure I agree with this. It's a very high risk for one piece of the puzzle. From the tests I've done, longevity is extremely important.
