Yes and yes. I think some politicians are at the will of their constituency, but most are self-serving egomaniacs.

Don't forget that Captain Socialist, Mr. spread the Wealth, owns 3 vacation homes.
i dont get this..just because he believes in democratic socialism ideals like medicare and medicaid and social security and the post office and medicare for all why are extra homes wrong...i just dont get it...why is he not allowed to have money.
he never said he was a communist.
and socialism is not communism...i remember learning that in jr. high school.
Let me try to help. His talk doesn't match his walk. He says that he doesn't want anyone to be poor. This is great. The majority of people on both sides of the aisle agree with him. The problem is that if he truly believed what he espoused, he would not have the extra homes and use the money to help as many people as he can. He actually doesn't care that much. It makes for a great political talking point for him. That is about the extent of it. He wants the government to carry the burden, but he doesn't want to be bothered with the issue personally.

If you want to see people that truly care and their actions and words meet, read about the Cathy's. Truett Cathy lived in a very modest 1-story ranch home and his money went towards providing for children who had nothing in life. He took the burden upon his shoulders. He didn't rely on the government to do it for him. His view was that it wasn't worth having money if you couldn't give it away. He was truly a great man who actually cared about helping humanity. Sanders is a fraud that just wants votes.

im sorry but that is nuts..he can have money and work his *** off for others to create better lives for them.
he is not a billionaire....you are off base..
how many people..im talking dems say trump is not qualified to be prez because of wealth...ive never heard anyone say it..
it is crazy to say rich people are not qualified to help the poor.
i bet sanders gives a higher % to charity then trump.....and HE has been apublic servant his whole life...he and his wife work...he is a smart man ..mid 70s..why so odd he has money....he has no problem increasing his taxes.
3/6/2019 10:37 PM
to call sanders a fraud is crazy..you are entitled but i cant trust the validity of your opinions
to say something as wildly bizzare as that...he has spent his whole life as a public servant trying to advance a certain agenda that does not create riches for himself.
you dont like his policies fine..calling him a fraud is weird.
3/6/2019 10:40 PM
btw...a couple in their 70s...net worth of 2 million......$800,000 from his book in 2016.
a fraud...i dont think so.
is he allowed to leave money to his wife and kids....is that allowed in your world ?

As a disclaimer, I am not against him having money. I am simply pointing out his hypocrisy. He speaks often about the "evil rich" but yet he is rich. There is nothing evil about being rich. There is nothing virtuous about being rich either, just as there is nothing evil or virtuous about being poor. The truth is that if he really believed what he said, he would keep just enough to survive and use the rest to help the poor. He doesn't want to do this. He wants the government to do it for him.

Being rich has a humanitarian side by nature. I'm not saying that rich people are typically humanitarians, but the only way to get out of poverty is to have a job. Nobody on this site has ever been hired by a poor person. Wealthy people do all of the hiring.

Time to tax all churches, mosques, and synagogues.
What amount would you have taxed? All monetary contributions have already been taxed once.
all twice

be a patriot
Then heell no. No income should be taxed twice, which is also why there should be no inheritance tax.

If we'd go to a sales-based flat tax on non-essentials, all this stupid sheit would be gone. Large corporations and wealthy people would always have to pay their share, as there'd be no loopholes and deductions - and nobody would be suggesting the same income be taxed twice.

first there is good rich and evil rich....
thats obvious.
he is comfortable...but not liquid rich by today's definition.
you are grasping for straws to put him down.

poor people can be evil just as easily as rich people. I don't really think the amount of money one has plays that big a part. For the most part I think people are born evil or they are not. Sometimes it can be learned, but for the most part I think you ar born with it.
3/6/2019 11:45 PM
it is crazy to think that evil rich refers to all rich people....

That is what I was saying. Being rich or poor is not virtuous or evil. At its basic form, it just refers to the number of consensual transactions that you have made. Bernie speaks of being rich as this evil that the government must atone for. He has THREE vacation homes. That is rich to anyone using any sense. He is a hypocrite.
3/7/2019 8:28 AM
I also don't think Bernie is a bad person for being a hypocrite. I think we are all hypocritical. Every time I tell one of my baseball players to study and put their academics first, I am being a hypocrite. I was a terrible student and baseball definitely came first.

If Bernie Sanders spent his entire career in public service then how is he a millionaire? He used his fame to write books. Capitalism made him rich, rich, rich. At best he is a hypocrite.

Sadly, most of today's younger people don't have enough common sense to formulate such a question. They are too blindly following everything their phone tells them to do, to actually wonder applicable things about life.
