You know what causes more people to leave their country and migrate here? Cutting off aid to the country, which Trump did.

In March of 2001 there were 220,000 southern border apprehensions. March of 2006: 160,000. March of 2016: less than 40,000.

This isn't a crisis. It's just an uptick because of poor policy choices.

Too funny. I just listened to an entire NPR segment wherein they interviewed former Sec. Johnson on this exact matter. Fox seems to have spun his responses. Why am I not surprised?

Sec. Johnson specifically stated that the "actions" Trump is contemplating ------------ removing foreign aid from the Countries of origin and shutting down the border would both be entirely counter productive. He stated whatever policies you enact on the border can ONLY have a temporary effect unless you deal with the underlying reasons they come here. He stated that folks he knows at DHS (the agency he headed!) are just now starting to see the effects of the policies that were established under Obama to address the issue of illegal migration. Under Sec. Johnson (and Obama) the previous admin. was able to REDUCE illegal migration since it's high point in 2014. But those reductions everyone KNEW would only be temporary unless something was addressed on a broader scale. Cutting aid just impoverishes more and causes more migration! #2. Closing the border means shutting down our bridges/border crossings in the states of Texas, NM, AZ and Calif.. The points of entry! That means all the migrant illegal crossers just go and find landpoints to cross at which makes them far harder to intercept or track. Again, the exact opposite result of what we SHOULD be trying to achieve.

Once again, Trump is a no-nothing loser making problems into mountains.
