00:07 Valparaiso Valparaiso calls a :30 timeout

Stetson is playing a man to man (-2)
00:03 Valparaiso Leland Hawthorne shoots over the doubleteam and knocks in the 3 pointer from straight away on a great pass from Michael Cooke> 60-58

Probably not the best strategy having a 74 PE player take a three pointer against a double team, when all you needed was a higher percentage shot, inside the arc. Of course, I mean the in-game logic, not necessarily you as a coach.

What’s the distribution of the guys on the court? What’s Hawthorne’s 3pt setting?

Maybe a little weird that Valpo's best look was a challenged 3, since the double team means someone else was open and probably had a higher percentage shot.

But things happen fast in the last 10 seconds. Doesn't seem too weird.

I think it’s only weird or unexpected if the player has a negative 3pt setting, and does not have the highest distribution for his on-the-court team. If he’s basically set up as the “go-to” guy, and has a neutral or better 3 pt setting, this is essentially what the coach is telling the team to do. Opponent’s defense is set up at -2, I would be more surprised if it tried to push an inside shot *unless* there was a non-doubled interior player with similar distribution down low. In that case, it’s probably a toss-up.

I'm thinking maybe with only :07 seconds left all they really had time to do was to get the ball up the court(4 seconds)and then proceeded to make one pass, which is all they had time for. It was probably just a case of the clock running low, but never thought the game logic worked that way.

hawthorne was set at +1 ( he's a 40% 3pt shooter for 3 years running) & was twice the distro of anyone else on the floor..all starters were on the floor..hawthorne & mahmood were double-teamed according to the play-by-play..here's a bit more
00:17 Stetson Brian Hill takes the ball from David Caputo 57-58
00:13 Valparaiso Orlando Adams steps in front of the Leland Hawthorne pass 57-58
00:09 Stetson Robert Cubbage misses the lay-in 57-58
00:07 Valparaiso Brian Hill pulls down the rebound 57-58
00:07 Valparaiso Valparaiso calls a :30 timeout

Yeah, then it sounds like what happened is exactly what the coach wanted to have happen. Hawthorne takes the game winning shot from the perimeter, no matter what.

just a thought..miracle shots really don't happen routinely in real life basketball..but it's good to see that it can happen in hd too..

agreed. the end game logic in this game sucks compared to real life, and the end game in real life is often a **** show. don't expect the last 10 seconds of this game to make sense.

just so you guys know, in those final seconds, the game has special logic in place to try to get the final shot to the highest per player on the team. it literally looks at that 1 stat, and that 1 stat alone. it will give a 81 per guy with 1 spd/bh the shot over a guy with 100spd/bh and 80 per. i don't know if this logic applies in the last 5 seconds, or the last 10, or what - but for whatever reason, there is unique logic for the final seconds and its EXTREMELY stupid.

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.
With such little time left the logic could be random

I think the three point setting is used as well. My -2 guys never* take the last three point shot unless everyone is -2.

* I think.
