So since I just came in, is the team I have the team I'm stuck with? Is it not like GD where recruiting happens before the season? Do I have to wait to next year to rescind schollies and sign new players?

Welcome da pulse. Unfortunately with this version of the game you are stuck with the guys you have for this season. Recruiting stars about half way through conference play for next season. Sitemail me if I can be of assistance.

Thank you. I will probably take you up on that.

That kinda sucks that you can't even do any recruiting to start. They should make the first season free like they used to if that's the case.

It is probably the number one problem this game has when it comes to user retention in my opinion. When the game was in beta many told seble this was a bad idea because people wouldn't want to pay for a wasted year but it fell on deaf ears.

That's too bad. Honestly, if I knew that it worked that way I would never have signed up to play HD. Not nice that they don't tell you that. Nonetheless, I'm already in it so I'll see how it goes. I hope the gameplay is less random than GD. Thanks for the input.

Use the year to learn about the game and peruse the forum pages.....it is better not to make quick decisions that you might have to live with for four years because something was not understood. I do believe, however, that you can find recruits in the second recruiting season before the season starts.

Someone can correct me if this was changed, but my understanding is that you only recruit in the second session if you apply for and receive a job during the job change period. And you have to have played in the world previously to do that. Reserving a team, whether as a new player or an existing player, means you start *after* the new season rolls over, so after all recruiting for the previous year is done.

I’m ambivalent on this. It’s generally good for new players to take the time to learn how the game works before they start recruiting. At the same time, it can discourage experienced players, as it’s a “wasted season”, and they’d have been perfectly capable of coming in and starting to bring in recruits during the second session. I am for giving players with at least a season of experience the option to start their job before RS2.

Recruiting is the fun part when you start up... It gets you hooked. Not this version though since D3 is counter-intuitive.

I think that anybody that joins this game and quits in a season or two, isn't really grasping what this game needs to compete. As a new coach, i would understand that i'm walking into a situation where everyone else is better than me, and it will take probably 5 seasons at the very least, to become decent. 4 seasons to get a roster of all my players, and 1 mulligan season when i started and had no clue what i was aiming for in recruiting.

i think it would be a good idea to only sell a 5 pack to new users. And make it $15 flat. But if a coach gets 5 seasons to BUILD, and he likes it, he'll stick around and pay money. By playing 1 season for $5, a new coach hasn't even scratched the surface of how to play the game. With the $15 5pack, they may play it out instead of running off. I'm sure this idea has been kicked around before as well

You choose a team.

You play with the team you chose.

Then you don't like the team you chose and blame ... the game???

Maybe you should own your choice.
At least they chose a team.

I like the team I have. We're 6-0 and ranked nationally. I just wish I had some control over rescinding scholarships and recruiting incoming players like in GD So I at least feel like some of the roster decisions are mine. Especially if I'm paying for the first season.

This would help me much better to set up for next season and would encourage me to pay for another season.

I took over a team with good prestige because I understand how important prestige is. Had I chosen a complete rebuild and realized that I was stuck for a whole season with a bunch sim players and couldn't even bring in my own freshman...there's no way I would come back for another season. I would feel like I just threw money down the drain.

It seems that moderators are far less interested in growing What If Sports than before. They're more about the fast nickel instead of the slow dime. This explains the lack of human players in both GD and HD.

And that's too bad because after playing a season in GD and well into a season of HD, the game planning and game play is waaaaaaay better than before and the sims are much more competitive which is good for the game imo.

Or make the first season free like they used to. And then only allow coaches to redshirt players if they pay for another season. That worked way better.

That way, you have a season to try the game out. It definitely worked because the game was way more packed with players back then.

I don't see how forcing new players to pay more would encourage more new players. If I was forced to buy 5 seasons for $15, I would never have come back.

I can't argue with that. But i think $15 is fair for a starter 5 pack. I feel like most coaches understand that if the first season price is $5, that's listed as a discounted price, then it's likely going to be a game that you're gonna have to pay for. So with that being said, i don't think $15 is terribly priced for a starter 5 pack.

Or even better.... make it an option. The $15 five pack. Or the $5 initial season
