Small Sample Size

Yes, small sample size. Plus, Nashville is a hitter's park. His GB/FB ratio will get him in trouble from time to time.

Oof. Have him start. What a waste of talent!

Good call, Hockey. I didn't even look at his dur/Stam.

Starting him certainly is better than what the original poster currently is doing. I've also used guys like this as a rotating Tandem B to maximize innings. Every time he's at 100%, make the next game's starter a T4A and make this guy your T4B. It requires adjusting your rotation after nearly every game, but it would be effective with this guy -- especially when matching him with a right-handed starter.
Perfectly said. My thoughts exactly.

He is a fine pitcher. Put him in there for 80-85 pitches as a starter and forget about it.
the tandem strategy mentioned above is a good one if you don't mind the higher maintenance.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I'll probably try his as a starter for a bit, I thought he would be a strong closer considering his splits and stamina, but it's not working out that way.

You are wasting value innings with him by closing him. He could throw 150+ as a starter.

I'm conservative, but I wouldn't push him to 80-85, unless you're in a 6-man rotation. In a 5-man he'll want to go 60/65 or 65/70 at most.

By the way, in Nashville I don't think he's all that great a pitcher, at least not so great that you should be bending over backwards to wring every inning out of him. On most of my contending teams he'd be an LRA. If you're playing in a park that really really kills HRs, like OKC, I might start him, or try him as a SuA at 25/35 and see if you can get 100-110 7th and 8th innings out of him. But in-game and between-game fatigue are going to worsen his performance if you try to get more than about 130 innings out of him, and he's not so good that you'd rather have him pitching fatigued than the rest of your staff pitching rested.

Small Sample Size
Sample size is pretty sizeable when considering he was horrible the previous season also

What are you talking about? He had a 1.3/3.30 the year before.

And yeah, 150 was probably a stretch for him. I agree more with Dedelman's inning totals when I actually think about it.

I want to trade with Goldie if those are a 'horrible season'

I had a similar pitcher that I bounced back and forth with what his best role was. Maybe a little higher stamina and a little lower durability during his peak. I could get a few more innings out of him as a starter but I think the best spot for him was as a SUA. I set up his pitch count to 35-40 pitches and he could throw 2 high leverage innings. He was great for a playoff run because he was able to pitch 2 innings every game. I can't get the clipboard to work for some reason or I would link him. He left in FA and the next owner has used him as a starter. He is 62/16 and he has thrown 130 innings the last two seasons as a starter.
