X-MAN PITCHING ROTATION THEME
I've always wondered what the ideal number of starting pitchers is. Is it a 2-man rotation, 3-man rotation, 4-man rotation or 5-man rotation. This league is designed to test out the various X-Man Rotations. The concept is simple. When you enter, specify if you are using a 2-man, 3-man, 4-man or 5-man starting pitching rotation. There will be six teams from each group allowed and each division will contain one team from each group. There are a few rules to adhere to.
1. Only your specified starting pitchers may start a game. That means if you go with a 2-man rotation, only those two pitchers may start a game. No spot starts from other pitchers. Any non specified pitcher to start a game will result in a forfeit.
2. There will be a minimum innings rule for your starting pitchers. For a 2-man rotation, each pitcher must have 450+ IP/162 in real life For a 3-man rotation, each pitcher must have 300+ IP/162 in real life. For a 4-man rotation, each pitcher must have 225+ IP/162 in real life. For a 5-man rotation, each pitcher must have 180+ IP/162 in real life. (Yes, you could theoretically have four 180-IP pitchers and one 300-IP pitcher for your 5-man rotation. I'm giving a little leeway on this to increase the number of permutations of pitching staffs)
3. Each of your starting pitchers must equal or exceed their real life IP/162 during the regular season in order to be playoff eligible. You may use your designated pitchers to relieve if needed. But no non-designated pitcher may start.
4. There will be a minimum games started rule for your designated starting pitchers. For a 2-man rotation, each pitcher must start 72+ games in the sim. For a 3-man rotation, each pitcher start 48+ games in the sim. For a 4-man rotation, each pitcher must start 36 games in the sim. For a 5-man rotation, each pitcher must start 29 games in the sim. These numbers represent 90% of the number of starts if everybody started the same number of games. Failure to meet this minimum starts rule means your team is not playoff eligible.
Alignment will put one of each rotation grouping into each division. The alignment will be based on total salary of your starting pitchers. So the highest salaried 2-man rotation will be in the same division as the highest 3-man rotation, the highest 4-man rotation, the highest 5-man rotation. In case of ties, which I guess is possible, I will use total pitching staff salary.
There is no restrictions on your hitters.
Please use the number of starting pitchers you are using as part of your team name. For example, my team name is "Fantastic Four".
For the playoffs: The only rule is that only your designated starting pitchers may start a game. (No stashing Milacki or McDowell to start a playoff game)
