no names but here is the scenerio....1961 prog.

owner has a premier pure reliever who has 195 amazing innings...134 erc in 1961 so you know how valuable and special that is.
but uses him exclusively as a starter ..after 23 starts he is 5 - 15 with a 6.97 era.

here are his best pure starters...you will see that he is clearly manipulating his players to lose..

1. ramos - 289 innings - 113 erc
2. williams - 219 innings - 127 erc
3. pappas - 217 innings - 114 erc
4. simmons - 160 innings - 122 erc
5. daley - 243 innings - 88 erc

883 innings before daley......1126 with

this is one of the premier starting rotations in the league with the best reliever.

you ask why...well there is a 3 team lottery for yaz...billy williams ...joe torre.

I am Commissioner of the subject league, which is in the 1960 season not 1961.

The above statistics are for 1960 except that I didn't find erc stats on either WIS or baseballreference.com.

The owner in question chose to use Frank Baumann as a starter instead of Curt Simmons.
Their respective real life stats for 1960 were as follows:

		GP	GS	W	L	SV	IP	OAV	WHIP	ERA
Frank	Baumann	49	21	14	6	3	195	0.247	1.20	2.67
Curt	Simmons	24	18	7	4	0	160	0.257	1.18	2.66

Because Baumann's performance has been poor, dino27 believes I should penalize the owner. Incidentally, in real life, according to baseball-reference.com, Baumann led the AL in 1960 in ERA and ERA+

While I would personally have used Simmons rather than Baumann, Baumann had 21 starts in real life, tied for 5th on the staff (with Don Lee). I do not believe it is reasonable to dictate to an owner who his starting rotation should be, particularly when he has used the 4 pitchers with the most starts (and innings) and one of 2 pitchers tied for the 5th most starts.

As for Daley, in the future he will be an outstanding relief pitcher. In 1960, he pitched in 39 games, 37 as a starter.
