Bingo! Very Good. Danny O'Keefe.

Now, how'd you figure it out?
Well, as a Classical Liberal who was formally educated by studying the Harvard Classics (something Harvard no longer supports due to Postmodern drivel,) I was taught how to think rather than the favored practice in higher education today which teaches what to think.

Other than that, your last clues (one-hit wonder,) same genre as Prine (something approaching folk) and co-wrote a song that has been covered numerous times, kinda narrowed the field.

the Dayton killer was apparently antifah.
this makes things even worse.....the white man mass murderer has been almost exclusively right wing.
the sickness is spreading.

this guy should have been red flagged for what he was suspended from high school about.
As soon as we merge with the British Commonwealth to form Oceania, the thought police can start red-flagging people for things they have yet to do.

Levon's son.

Obscure quote post---------- Guess the artist for today's prize. A slightly used AK - 47.

"Jesus is just another drug as far as I'm concerned"

I know this is a VERY obscure quote, thus I give you a hint. Same party penned this:

"When I became your crutch, I became your cripple, too"

This just struck home. Did you make an Elton John reference?

I hope the Kalashnikov you give me has the 40-round magazine.

that is what red flagging is - restraining gun rights under circumstances where the person has a shown significant signs of violence.
many states have such laws.
whats wrong with it.

if ohio had the law and the high school sent in the red flag the dayton shooter would never have gotten his guns.
it should work that way.

IMHO, red-flagging violates at least three amendments (2nd, 4th and 5th.)

Very good! Yes I did, and you're a funny man.

I've used that joke about Levon "called his son Jesus" before.............nobody ever got it.
It's kind of an odd reference and is a bit indicative of my weird humor.

As for O'Keefe. I'm guessing you found the songwriting credits for "Well, Well, Well" which has been recorded by The Blind Boys Of Alabama and Bonnie Raitt among others.

You'll have to come visit AZ and take me to some gun show in order to get your prize. However, I'll try to talk you into a pizza and some beer instead.

AS for the red flag bit and Patriot Act type Laws.
I'm FOR the banning of military assault weapons.
BUT, The Patriot Act is the most dangerous idea ever advanced against OUR individual Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.
There MUST be NO thought police in the U.S.
We CAN VERY CAREFULLY, temporarily PROTECT ill individuals from themselves.
BUT,the ill individuals have the SAME constitutional protections as do you and me!
We shouldn't erroneously give ANY UP!

Wasn't the Seinfeld writer whose father(Danny Sr.) invented the "Festivus" holiday also a Danny O'Keefe?

Different guy?

It don't violate #2... Unless all gun reform does. Red flag laws typically include a trial so that's #5 done... And #4? Don't understand why red flag laws would be in violation.

BTW, states already have them

they are just restraining orders with focus on gun possession.

II - A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Seems straighforward to me. The one point of contention I have is the use of the term gun versus the actual term used (arms.) Arms and guns were not interchangeable in the late 18th century and, for my money, are still not interchangeable today. Otherwise, this topic has been debated to death and we are clearly on opposite sides.

IV - The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Some red flag laws do allow for the temporary seizure of arms owned by individuals until they are no longer deemed a threat. Everything is open to interpretation but we could have a long discussion on what the words "unreasonable" and "probable cause" mean in this context and in context to the rest of the Constitution. Specifically, the fourth is violated when a search and seizure takes place without a direct connection to a crime under investigation. Some of these warrants are issued to thwart future actions - thus, there is no current crime, only thoughtcrime. Thank you, Mr. Blair (Orwell.)

V - No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

The main problem here again is the due process clause and the ex-parte nature of electronic social media surveillance.Clearly, the Internet Age is a challenge to the Constitution.
