I signed a pretty good unsigned draftee from last year from the minor league FA pool for a 1 year ML deal. How will this work when the contract is up? Does he hit regular free agency or do I get pre-arb + arb years?

I checked a player I did this with awhile ago... his contract converts to a regular Minor League contract next season and you get the regular service time out of him.

it's been a minute and i didn't have one to check, but if you signed him to a big league deal i think he'll make 327k even in the minor leagues, or at least 55k. his service time will work just like anyone else though.

I saw that same guy, lamps. I almost did the same thing you did. Right now he hits about .215 against righties at the MLB level. With that 85 power, he could turn into a decent hitter. The low contact is what scared me away. This guy would not do well in OKC for an NL team.

If what damag stated above is true, it is a low risk investment.

Damag, how did your guy turn out that you signed?

I once had a 0 contact 98 power 50 ish splits 80 + eye guy switch hitter low speed under 20. I used him for a few seasons got .850 ops out of him consistently.

Do you remember which stadium? I experimented with those high eye - high power guys as well, but it didn't go well in OKC. My guy was a DH type that I played in RF, but he ops'd only .750.

Levi Baez had a pretty decent career. Yes, he was a DH who I played in RF.
