Recruiting Players for the next season Topic

I noticed there are times where there are players considering teams from recruiting actions from the previous season. For instance, if I already have 12 players on my roster and want to put in recruiting effort into a player I may want for the following season, but have no room for the current season, does anyone know how this works?

I think that's only with ineligibles. And what happens is, the player went juco the season before. And the season that you see him with slight effort, is the season after he played juco ball and is eligible to be re-recruited.

The slight interest the player has in a school(s) is from the same schools that recruited him the season prior

If you recruit a player, but don’t sign him, a portion of the effort credit you accumulate will stay with you to start next season, provided the player does not sign with another team, of course. Most of these players will be signed by a sim in the last cycles; the ones who aren’t will show up considering you the following year.

They don’t have to be ineligible. They only have to go unsigned.

Derek Templeman should have never been ruled eligible.

I could've sworn there were plenty of instances where I put recruiting effort into a recruit and that player disappeared the following year.

Is it possible these SIM teams are getting these players, despite not getting to high or very high at the end of recruiting?

I had the real Derek Templeman. Shot 76.2% from the field.

You don't have to get to High or Very High. You just need to offer a scholly and have a spot open to sign any recruit after the last cycle.

No, I was speaking about getting to H or VH to have the recruit consider me for next season, when he would be a JUCO3, but it seems like they never appear in the recruiting pool.

It's tough because you have to find them again. They won't be listed in the same state because most likely they will travel to play at a JUCO. If you're in the SE region and that player goes to Cali for JUCO, you would have to scout CA to get them in your recruit pool again.

If you’ve marked them with a color, they stay in your pool for the next season, you don’t have to go searching for them. Also, it doesn’t hurt to offer them a scholarship (assuming you’ve filled them all) and they’ll tell you when they’ve signed with someone else.

and you get considering credit for the scholarship offer...

There is a bevy of sim signed players in the last 2 cycles. One season I offered like 20 scholarships at the end of recruiting just to see how many guys would remain unsigned and like 3 were.

I thought every recruit signed. If that's not the case, then sure, they wouldn't have to be an ineligible

This is my favorite little "trick" (if you can call it that) in 3.0. If I've filled all my slots with 24+ hours left in recruiting, I look at who's the best remaining player in my high or medium priority list who isn't high with anyone else. I give them my 20 AP's each cycle until they're ready for a scholarship, offer them, throw HVs / CV at them if I have cash left. Twice I've been able to keep them interested in me into the next recruiting season, and once I've gotten the easiest sign imaginable (for a player who developed very nicely in his one season somewhere else).

pretty clever, assuming you can find un-signed guys who are worth signing - sounds like you have been able to, but i think that is somewhat situational. like at high d1, i figure there should NOT be such players. but i can definitely see it in d3 or whatever.

I'm A+ in D2. Agreed that I wouldn't expect this to ever work in high D1, and I may have just gotten lucky once, but to me it's a possible payoff with zero downside (I suspect most folks just stop investing their AP once they fill their slots.)
