there's a lot of useful lesser versions, it would just feel weird using them for a first round pick but I guess part of the value is the flexibility

good, now I have one whole point of usage... that's good right?

Tau built an awesome team with the same first two last season. You got this.

Ben is right that I was for sure picking Hardaway there after Kawhi went off the board. I have the same goals every ODL: have 3 guys who can provide elite defense covering all 5 positions and the bulk of the usage I need after 3 rounds. After that, it is just plugging in the right complementary pieces.

Since Hardaway is efficient and provides elite D across 3 positions, he fits nicely into that equation.

There are a ton of awesome 3rd round PGs now... I keep wanting to grab one of them but the draft keeps not working out that way.

Your overall philosophy for the first three rounds roughly matches mine. But after losing the guy I wanted (Pippen) my first plan was to move on to Penny. I ended up scrapping that because the builds I was coming up with using Penny were too light on threes and rebounds. I kicked around a couple other high-defense guards but didn't have the time to really crunch the numbers, so I just went with a boring/safe pick in Chandler instead. Now I'm in the position of hoping I can get the backcourt guys I need with my two 4th round picks; it's a gamble but I feel pretty good about how deep the pool of guards has gotten with the 17-18 and 18-19 players in the mix.

I really wanted to pair Klay with Wilt but it wasn't meant to be. Hopefully I can make Vucevic work.

Think I’ve seen this team I draft before

Duncan
Magic
Dr J
this time no Drexler!!

is Dr J unloved because of threes? 54.7 efg on 6+ usage points, clean as hell, 100 D but his best position is SG....

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I love Doc. Wasn’t the best fit with Giannis but I was sad to see him fall

Very expensive, poor shot distribution, low assists for a 2 or low rebounding for a 3. It’s like if the 14-15 Klay Thompson was less efficient, way more expensive and offered no threes.

Doc + Durant - KD is super lite on orbds for an SF but Doc can make up for that w 9%+ at the SG position while KD makes up for the 3s

The problem with Doc (and Artis) in the ODL is not that they aren’t talented enough. It is that their price dictates you take them in the first two rounds and with the addition of the latest few seasons, there are simply better options in those rounds. Sure you can take them in the third, but most people spend the most money on their top two guys and 9+ million in the third is unrealistic.

What a run on point guards in the 3rd/4th. When I traded my 3rd rounder away I was hoping for someone like Conley or Lowry to fall; probably unrealistic, but that position is so deep now. I'm relatively happy with Price but he leaves me a little short on 3s.

I think there's a way to make 81-82 Erving work at this cap if you can get the right guys around him. Gilmore, though, is pretty much on my "do-not-draft" list along with Moses. Too much money to devote to a mid-usage player, and he comes with too many fouls and turnovers to be worth it. I would much rather take a lot of other low-mid usage bigs instead of him - not only the guys who went in front of him, but also guys like Capela, Mutombo, Lucas, etc.
