it sounds to me like the coach is continuously re-taking their own program. i wonder if there is some benefit there. does he get session 2 money or something?
if you don't mind me asking, what team are we talking about here?
From what I've been told it works like this......
Scenario 1) Coach A doesn't renew. Jobs comes around and Coach A applies for the same job. No other coaches apply for that job........ nothing changes.
Scenario 2) Coach A doesn't renew. Jobs comes around and Coach A applies for the same job. But now Coach B, C, D, and/or etc. apply for that job. Now it becomes a real hiring process. If Coach A "wins" the job back in this situation, over the other applicants, then he is then looked at as a NEW hire. And he DOES get full recruiting benefits for a second time in that same season. I "assume" his loyalty/reputation would reset as a new coach. But I don't know this part for sure.
So if Coach A happens to be the best coach in that world, he'll likely get the job over anyone that applies anyways. So he'd get even more of a benefit which kinda sucks.
In this case, if Coach A in fact IS the best coach (or one of the best), I'd say it's possible he's doing it on purpose with hopes that another coach applies, because he feels he'll get the job anyways. If Coach A is a mediocre coach, he's probably just lazy and forgets to renew and it's no big deal.
This is a terrible "loop hole" if you wanna call it that. And ballsy if a coach actually does this as strategy really!
