It will be interesting to see how much difference the new playoff formula makes to who ends up in and out. The new formula makes it a bit easier to make a big leap up (a couple of WS wins will mean you jump a lot of people), but harder to go really far backwards (since it is hard for a lot of people to rack up serious playoff points).

Yup. I'll be rooting hard for people ahead of me to win WS. It'll widen the gap for Round 2, but gotta get there first.

I wonder what the lowest ever rank is for someone who had 5 playoff teams.

Thanks ozo . . . it's very strange, I've only been doing WIS for like 3 years now, and I've had "moderate" success (.537 win % - but terrible in playoffs). Learned a TON from players like you, schwarze, skunk, WaitNSee, etc. I also enjoy the camaraderie.

But, in the weeks leading up to this tournament, I was actually in such a funk that I was contemplating whether to continue pumping money into the game. It was just getting too frustrating. So this tourney was my do-or-die moment so to speak. I selected rosters using the same criteria and looking at the same numbers I always do, and in some strange fundamental shift in the WIS universe, my teams started winning big on the day WISC started. I simply can't explain it.

Anyway. . . . my playoff record is absolutely dismal so we'll see how that plays out. I'm just happy to be in round 2 and hope I can continue my success.

I think you've got a decent shot at R2. Under the old rules you would have made it in easily I think with all the bonus points. As it stands, I think you probably need one WS win and you'll be good. The cutoff will be around 550. You will end the season probably. somewhere in the low 520s. Each WS win gets you 21 points - 11 wins plus 10 bonus points. So one WS and not terrible luck in the other 4 should get you well above 550. Five shots to win a WS isn't the worst odds I have ever seen.

barracuda is 8 points behind me overall and I have a chance to knock one of his teams out of the playoffs. Time to dig in.
