Wow, a run on starting pitchers linked to Johnny Evers. I guess I'm glad I got on the front end of that run. Although it means those guys are picking ahead of me.

I also agonized over my Ed Reulbach pick. I had two other players typed in (including Gehrig) and was all ready to hit submit, then changed my mind. It's easy to simply take the best player available, but then you start analyzing the risk/reward and the opportunity cost, and you start second guessing yourself.

After doing all the research, I am dumbfounded at why certain players were nominated - guys that don't have good teammates and also aren't worthy of being blacklisted - just wasted picks. Most people will simply pick a teammate from those guys in the last few rounds.

That's the point I was trying to make earlier. Not sure if some people viewed their nominations as some kind of "screw your neighbour" pick, but not much sense to a few nominees.

The salary cap is almost a deceptive element to this draft. Most of the drafts I've done here have had limited player pools (e.g., NL East 1970-74) or teammates of a smaller number of players (16x16), and the talent level determines what's a realistic cap most of the time. Here we started with a cap and then the nominees didn't really provide the player pool to match it. In some ways, though, the nominees don't really matter since we all just work from the limited pool, whatever it is. Just like last year with the league with no players chosen in R1.

The people drafting earlier did get an advantage because of the shallower pool of great SP, though. That's something that wouldn't have happened with, say, the silent auction. We shall see whether the other elements make up for it.

Jack Pfiester (Johnny Evers)

And here I thought going with Collins would get me a decent pick next round. Looks like quite a few people are sacrificing on talent to some degree in order to get a higher pick, which seems a little counterproductive, but we'll see how it plays out.

NebHusker asks me to pass along he can draft around 9 pm Central tonight. His top choices got nabbed, so he needs to research a bit more later.

Okay I have a few minutes here and don't want to hold things up. I had this plan B in the back of my mind in case of an emergency. . . . .and this, my friends, is an emergency.

Give me CRAIG BIGGIO - teammate of Randy Johnson.
