im hoping this weekend you have a dream about a pretend d2 basketball team.

heres how i see it playing out, ...
this team, whose coach is pathetically bad, might have just enough talent to make the 64 team tourney, in a world where there are probably only 32 teams (at most) that are even trying

but in your dream you are attending the big dance, and you keep attending these games with this less than mediocre team, and.. in spite of the horrendous coaching,.. they keep winning.

in the first round they beat a team coached by dahsdebater
in the second they cruise past a team coached by viva il re
in the sweet16 they win a thriller over a team coached by gillespie
in the elite8 they got some controversial calls and good bounces and snuck past a team coached by plumpy3
in the final4 they destroyed a team coached by oldresorter
and then in a dramatic 8OT championship game, they beat a team coached by kelby03. after the game kelby03 bows down praises the coach of the cinderella team saying "I wish that one day i could be one tenth of the coach that you are. You are my hero and I quake in your presence"

and the team carries the coach off on their shoulders. and they all get drunk on pretend coors light and eat bad pizza and mediocre ice cream

what was viva il re real coach id?
the viva id was one he made because they banned the other or something.

one of my favorite hd memories..
theonly had a great run at pbau. was there 17 seasons and won 4 titles with 4 other final4 appearances. and at he end of that run was back to back 35-0 championships. impressive no doubt.
but he went to far and proclaimed himself greatest coach in the history of tarkd3. i told him he wasnt even the best coach in the history of our conference as narcotico had had a great run years earlier and won 9 titles . he was at gboro a total of 50ish years but the titles came in a fairly small window. regardless, 9 titles is 9 titles.

theonly kept up how that was no issue and he would absolutely beat all narcoticos records... it was just pure math and at his rate of winning it was a foregone conclusion he said.

i kept saying notsofast... stuff happens... not alot of guys with 9 titles with same team. maybe you get bored, maybe real life jumps in, but i told him he'd never get there. he gaurunteed he would. the next season he left HD (or got banned again, i cant recall which)

reminded me of Kramer betting Seinfeld he would build levels in his apartment. the cancels the bet. says he *could* do the levels if he wanted to, just doesnt want to anymore.


dont get me wrong, theonly and i were great friends, just love to bust on him. i didnt get alot of opportunities to do that cause he was certainly a damngoodcoach

Ian was a good guy when he wanted to be, helpful when he wanted to be. I don't imagine I knew him as well as you did, but we chatted for a number of months in a private messenger with a handful of other coaches. He was very knowledgeable about the game and yes, was a very good coach.

i liked the0nly too, enjoyed talking with him. appreciate the anecdote, definitely sounds like something he would say :) he reminded me of a friend i had, who was always running around championing new causes, trying to get people on board (not like, an activist, but like, charging to go do this and that, even if it was simply a call for everyone to go get wasted). but then he'd get bored and move on. the0nly kinda reminded me of him.

i feel like we'd occasionally debate something, and if i got him to come off his dogmatic view, he'd not only come over on my side of the fence - he'd be off running full speed opposite direction. i don't recall any examples but it would be like if i convinced him how important speed was at the 3 in the press, he'd be trying to run a 5 guard lineup the next week, and pushing the theory on the forums. kinda made me laugh. he was definitely one of the good ones!

He had multiple IDs so he could have more than 10 teams. Yeah. He really liked this game once.

I wonder who was the current record for most teams. Anyone have more than 10 right now??
