I should get a bonus of some sort for my roster getting picked last.

Ok, generally, everyone did a good job of putting together rosters that will be tough to win with. Some teams have hitting but horrific pitching, and others have pitching but may never score a run.

After debating the pros and cons repeatedly, I've decided to go right up the middle with a team that I believe is mediocre on both sides but not horrible on either.

I'll take fatguyrd's roster.
I'm curious as to what you think is mediocre about an offense with a .312/.382/.462 slash in a league like this.

At a quick glance, I think the top 4 teams selected are in very good shape to dominate.
Trying to set low expectations so that I can sneak up on everyone. I think the offense could be very good within this league. The pitching is likely to be middle of the road.

Middle of the road in this instance is a very relative term. I have a feeling that the best pitching teams and the best hitting teams will have numbers way beyond the lower tier, and there will be a huge gap between the top team and the league average where the mediocre teams will sit. So much so, that I would expect to see a gap of as much as 350 runs between the top and the league average, possibly as much as 800 runs from the top to the bottom.

There are going to be some painful defenses too. And some of these pitching staffs will get pummeled because of that, plus fatigue. There are going to be quite a few 30+ run games as mopups get abused.

I mean certainly, some pitching staffs are going to have a hard time. But I actually suspect scoring overall will be pretty similar to a normal $80-$100 million cap league, because the hitters aren't that good either, and the super elite hitters are going to get intentionally walked in high leverage situations. I think the real difference is that the gap between the worst and the best teams (both hitting and pitching wise) will be much greater than in a standard league.

Also, I'd be surprised if there are that many 30+ run games (except by the league's elite offensive teams, like CLWECW's team) because the offenses are bad enough to generate outs even against mop up caliber pitching.

It appears I was the only person to minimize plate appearances (I also minimized innings like many others). 5000 plate appearances = only 625 per player. Would love to see what happens to the already poor defense once the position players get fatigued.

True, but if that team can manage to keep Bonds and Gehrig rested, they'll do some good damage if they aren't walked.

This really depends on how bad the hitters play. If offenses dominate, PA fatigue will be a real thing. If the offenses are so weak that they can't even dominate bad pitching, they'll barely break a sweat.

It looks like i could get 4 or 5 solid innings out of the bullpen (thanks Dr K), but the first 4 or 5 innings could be murder.

I'm free this evening if the other three division drafters want to sit down and hammer things out in short order.

yep I'm hoping vilefileman will start us off soon - I'd like to get this hammered out quickly.

You will, if the guy can't win with that trainwreck you built for him...

We will put je3rd (CLWECW’s roster) in our division

Looks like this will not be a quick process after all.

Sorry guys. Didn't realize this draft started. jtpsops sent me a sitemail a few hours after this pick, after I already shut down. I will make my pick this morning (need to do a little more research - never really got to research since my roster was essentially assigned to me)
