Six Random Pages - [full, but seeking wait list] Topic

This is the fastest the league has ever filled. Thanks to everyone for their interest.

Inevitably, we lose one or two owners here once they see their available choices for building a roster. If anyone wants to be on the wait list, or volunteer to take a second team if necessary, please speak up and I will generate an alternate team for you.

Also, can someone please draw six more random pages for me, so I will have a back-up team ready if required?

Thank you and happy roster-building. I look forward to seeing all the new names on the rosters this year.

This is always fun to build. If there's a spot left, I'll press my luck.
redcped: Press accepted, and good luck with the following:

1. 1944 Cincinnati Reds Batting Orders [any four who started a game that year, including starting pitchers]
2. Yankees @ Twins, September 3, 1966, second game of doubleheader
3. 1985 Cleveland Indians Batting Statistics - for some reason, this page DOES list all the pitchers, even though none of them had a PA, so they are eligible
4. P Billy Hart 1890 St. Louis Browns
5. Philadelphia Athletics @ White Sox, June 14, 1922
6. P David Carpenter 2012-15

Carpenter only had one WIS season (2012 LAA). I presume that's what I have to use, right?

Amazing fact about my 1922 box score: The third base umpire for my game was Ed Walsh. Yes, that Ed Walsh! He only umpired in 1922 and left it because he hated calling balls and strikes.

I will play
Mr. Ruth: Honored to have you involved. Hope you are going to pick yourself as playing captain! Here are six pages for teammates:

1. 1B Mike Ivie 1971-83
2. Brooklyn Robins @ Cubs, September 15, 1929 - your old friend Charlie Root pitched!
3. Nationals @ Orioles, June 12, 2007
4. * P John Roach 1887 - see below
5. Brewers @ Angels, August 20, 1993
6. 1997 Orioles Team Batting Gamelog - https://www.baseball-reference.com/gl/teams/BAL/bat/1997.htm
The only players shown here are the opposing starting pitchers, so you can take any four pitchers who started a game against the O's in '97

As for John Roach, he pitched one game for the 1887 NY Giants, and gave up 17 runs [10 earned] ! So you will take a 200k player in his place, and then I will find you a replacement pitcher from AAA, whom you probably shouldn't count on for much help!
Regarding Page 6, the 1997 Orioles Batting Gamelog.

Must my pitchers' seasons be from 1997?

Actually, if you will indulge me, can I just confirm I understand who's eligible for my team?

1. I must use Mike Ivie and three teammates from whichever of Ivie's seasons I select.
2. I must select four players from that game and use their 1929 seasons, no twist.
3. Ditto
4. I will choose a 200k player plus three of Roach's teammates from the 1887 Giants, no twist.
5. Four players 1993 seasons, no twist.
6. Four pitchers from the list of Orioles opponents (I am presuming from 1997).

Do I have this right or am I able to twist any of my choices? Thanks

Sorry, posted the answer to your first question before I saw the second. You answered all six correctly. The only times we allow twisting in this league is when an assigned page shows career statistics: player pages like Mike Ivie, pages that show career leaders, players by birthplace, the free agent draft, etc.

6. P David Carpenter 2012-15

Carpenter only had one WIS season (2012 LAA). I presume that's what I have to use, right?
Not necessarily. You are allowed to choose up to three non-sim eligible seasons, to be replaced by AAA players. So you could take David Carpenter in 2015, roster a 200k player to be replaced, if you wanted to choose three of his teammates from 2015 instead of 2012. The AAA player I would assign will be similar to Carpenter's career stats.

But, you can also use this loophole to select a scrub from the 1890 Browns, so you don't have to spend salary $$ on one of Billy Hart's teammates. Or maybe there are some guys from that Yankees - Twins game who never qualified for the sim, and you'd like to give them a chance.

Here are your pages tdoak:

1) Chicago White Sox at New York Yankees, July 19, 1942
2) Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees, August 18, 2015
3) LA Dodgers at Philadelphia Phillies ,September 15, 1963
4) Player page - P Scott Service (1988-2004)
5) St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets, August 4, 1996
Somehow forgot the 6th page:

6) 1896 Brooklyn Bridegrooms Batting Page
So, when you get a roster, I need to verify it against the six pages you drew. Here is my tentative team. Please post under the same format, NOT HERE, but on a Theme Leagues page that I will create now:

2) Twins @ Yankees, 2015: Andrew Miller, Shane Robinson, Alex Rodriguez, *Nick Rumbelow

5) Cardinals @ Mets, 1986: Edgardo Alfonzo, Alvaro Espinoza, Todd Hundley, Danny Sheaffer
6) Brooklyn Bridegrooms, 1896: Ad Gumbert, George Harper, Fielder Jones, Harley Payne
7) Wild Card: 1978 Rod Carew

TOTAL PAYROLL: 80,977,088
COPIED FROM PAGE 3:

When you are ready to verify your roster, please post it in the Theme Leagues thread dedicated to such. It's at
https://www.whatifsports.com/forums/Posts.aspx?topicID=517603

Once your roster is verified, I will assign any AAA players you need to replace the 200k players from your six pages. Please be sure to indicate these with an asterisk, so I can easily identify them. Note: I don't want to see which 200k player you picked in the above format, I want to know the actual player you drafted from the relevant page, like Nick Rumbelow, who got his only career win in the 2015 game I drew.
