tangplay, I'll respond only because you seem to be a halfway normal and rational person.

Please defend this position from a modern-day standpoint. Why is the electoral (or "electorial") college important now?

Because it's part of the constitution, that's why! If you are too blind too see that the liberals want to change the rules to their benefit then you are part of the problem. The Constitution wasn't mean't to be shredded to one parties liking.

I would love to see how you define illegal immigrant,

Any person from a foreign country being here without proper authorization. Really, it's not that hard. Does anyone know what the meaning of ILLEGAL is anymore?

I'm just going to assume that you support abortion then.

Wrong. I support the freedom of the unborn to live. I consider life to begin at conception. The freedom of choice should apply to everyone including the unborn who don't have a voice. Why does the Mother have the right to end another persons life just because it hasn't been born? They are forcing their CHOICE onto the unborn. I've never met a person yet who was told that their Mother almost choose abortion say that they wish she would have killed them.

Trump wasn't impeached for 'being a traitor.' He was impeached for Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress. You are moving the
goalposts.

I never said he was impeached for being a traitor, larimiebob called him that and I asked him to prove it. Please try to follow along correctly.

It's pretty obvious that Trump withheld aid in an attempt to help himself win the 2020 election

And no one was actually able to prove that was the reason. It has been all speculation. I know it is a huge stretch for any Democrat to imagine that it was because the President saw corruption and wanted to get to the bottom of it. Only because it was Biden, a political rival, that it maybe turned into something that was never the intent. The last time I checked the law still requires proof beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime was committed. There has been no proof that the reason Trump did it was to help himself win the 2020 election. We haven't heard his side of the story.

First, it's Native American. Indians are born in India. Secondly, she does have Native American heritage, just not enough to identify as Native American, IMO. Either way, she didn't lie about this. She was slightly misleading and the Republican spin did the rest.

Excuse me, Native American. They have never been called Indians before so I made a huge error. And since when is being slightly misleading not a lie?

cherry-picking people to believe based on who you already agree with.

Mr Schiff is an expert at it. I will believe who I want based on facts, not hearsay and speculation like the Democrats.

And I don't dismiss everyone's opinions. I just call them out on it when they lie about the truth. "The OTHER major party is not the party that lacks Integrity and Courage". It takes Integrity to NOT lie and it takes Courage to face the person you are accusing of a crime. 2 things the Democraps are very much guilty of.
You may think I love Trump. I'm not a big fan, but I'll defend him or any other person accused of a crime based on speculation.
Electoral college - The constitution changes all the time. 27 times, in fact. Did you support none of those changes because they violated the existing constitution at the time?

Immigration: I love discussing immigration with conservatives. OK, so are asylum seekers "illegal immigrants"? Trump seems to think so, despite the fact that asylum is a legal process. The rules say that asylum seekers are supposed to cross the border without authorization. Off the topic of asylum, I would like to point out that the majority of 'illegal immigrants' in America are those who just overstay their VISA's. Restrictive immigration policies actually make this problem worse, not better.

Abortion: That's fair. My argument was simply that choices and freedom often come down to which group you want to give more freedom to. On abortion, I am fairly pro-life, which exceptions for rape victims and births that would be harmful to a woman. I don't feel strongly about the issue.

Impeachment - I don't see how investigating Biden, someone that Trump knew was a political rival, does anything but help Trump. It doesn't help the country in any meaningful way. Especially when you have American agencies who have been saying that Biden didn't have anything to do with the corruption. BTW, Democrats have invited Trump to testify and he has refused. I would be curious as to what evidence could exist that would convince you that impeaching Trump is a good idea? I read your other post, and it seems that you don't understand the reason as to why Pelosi isn't sending the articles to the Senate right now. I would again remind you that the Senate is refusing to uphold their constitutional duties and hold a fair trial.

Warren: Again, Warren's original claim, that she had Native American heritage, wasn't incorrect. The media spun that claim to insinuate that Warren thinks she is 100% Native American. Warren self-identifies as Caucasian.

Please quit reading my posts. You are just wasting your time.

Witnesses? Hmmm, guess you forgot about Schiff and the whistleblower. Oh, can't call the whistleblower. No one knows who he is, including Schiff.

So you don't like Trumps public behavior. I actually agree with you there. Frightening! Like I said, I'm not a big fan. His China tariffs have cost me ten's of thousands of dollars. But I also understand the big picture. We can't let China continue to steal our technology and we can't continue to have huge trade deficits with them every year. Something had to be done. Obama did nothing and HRC would have let it continue.

I guess the spineless Repubs can't stand together. They had at least 3 defectors in the impeachment vote. Oh wait, that was the Democraps.

So, in the world of reality, both parties have members that cheat, lie, are corrupt, and whatever else you want to hold against them. The only way to solve it is to get big money out of politics in every facet including campaigning. Too much influence is done by contributors to gain political favors. It isn't for the people anymore. I actually agree with Steyer on a lot of his points. Term limits is another good idea that is long overdue. I could go on and on....

12/21/2019 12:43 PM
I agree with you that we need big money out of politics... but it's ironic that you say you agree with Tom Steyer, of all people, on this issue and not a Sanders or a Warren.
12/21/2019 12:45 PM
Well let me rephrase that. I agree with him on a few points.
Warren and Sanders think they can spend their way out of any problem by raising taxes on the rich. I've never seen that happen and I seriously doubt they could make it happen. Tell me that neither one is accepting campaign contribution from big money for political favors down the road and I won't believe you.

I understand Steyer is big money all by himself but that only shows he doesn't need big money from the outside to back him. His involvement in the coal industry and his current view toward climate change and green energy exposes him to a level of hypocrisy that would keep me from voting for him.
12/21/2019 1:33 PM
Raising taxes on the rich would raise significant revenue for Americans. Economists are divided, I tend to believe Sanders on this one. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think Sanders has ever accepted a campaign donation from billionaires.

Agreed.
I'm done looking at anything you have to say...........I'm just not into demagogue worship much.............but you should know I have NO problem with the Repugnants calling Schiff as one of their witnesses. Feel free to call anyone they like. Up to a maximum limit.

As to the Whistleblower.......... I'm not an attorney, Thank Ussen, so I don't have any certainty about the Whistleblower law.
I think, emphasize on THINK, that that is forbidden by law somehow.
If Not, call away.
If so, fight it in the Courts if someone so wishes.

And BTW, you've now joined a very select group of WIS users............you and Dougout...........
Folks I don't waste a second of time on (anymore!)
TY for suggesting it.

"I could go on and on...."

NOW, you can go on and on all you wish............... have fun with it............ just like Dougout.......... be that one hand clapping!
The real world has moved on from The Apprentice.......... maybe you should too.

You are a moron. You were the one that suggested to not waste time and read my posts..... not me. Your brilliance can't even recognize sarcasm when you see it.

You are the one making the statement. Prove you are correct that he's never accepted donations from big money. Sounds like you are speculating. Problem when people think without backing up their thoughts with facts, It's just speculation. Hmmm, where have I heard that before?

If raising taxes is the answer, then the Democrats can have your money. I want to keep mine. I have a real problem with anyone who thinks that raising taxes is the answer.

Just last month, the Sanders campaign returned a 470 billion dollar contribution from Marta Thoma Hall. Sanders isn't accepting donations from the rich. Either way, I can't prove a negative. So the burden is on you here.

The Democrats don't want my money! Yours either! They want the money from Jeff Bezos, Michael Bloomberg, Bill Gates, etc. etc.

Pete released his immigration plan today. I would urge you all to read through the mainstream candidates' plans and see which one advocates for open borders.

None of them, because it’s bullshit...

How many want to “Take your guns away.”

None of them, because it’s bullshit.

How many want “socialism.”

None of them, because it’s bullshit.

Their entire defense of trump is bullshit.

To see McConnell actually **** and moan about “rule of law” and “fairness” in proceedings...

Exceptionally ironic bullshit.

Not a ONE can answer a legitimate question without immediate deflection to talking point bullshit.

And the least principled and the most religious and the least educated and the least experienced and the most divisive and the least wealthy and the most rich continue to **** down the necks of the rest of society and tell us its raining. They leave us to fight amongst ourselves for the scraps that remain. And here I am doing their bidding right along with the rest of you.

I see pundits say “Americans are tired.” I agree, but not for the same reasons as many of them. I’m tired, but I’m tired of what one meteoric personality has given license to. I’m tired of liars with the audacity to accuse truth with more bullshit. I’m tired of seeing another massive financial bubble backed by big business and industry deregulation and bullshit.

I’m tired of it being okay to attack the likes of McCain, Cummings and Dingell, who are of the most principled and worthy of respect in our national history.

I call bullshit. So every “**** you” and anything you might consider “offensive” are fair game. To fight the unending, deafening roar of the tidal wave of bullshit that has steadily grown since a black man won the presidency and awakened the sleeping giant of, you guessed it...

BULLSHIT

To be fair, Bernie does self identify as a socialist. In my opinion, he leans more toward social democracy.
