Impeachment Takeaways Topic

Here's a place for your "facts". Anything you actually learned/took away from the "impeachment hearings".

Keep it Real!
Dumb memes, offensiveness beyond the pale, as well as repeating lies following being informed of the lie WILL be red lined!

Other than that, all "spin" is allowed as long as it has a shred of actual basis.
Your "takeaways", as it were.
Are you proud of how our Democratic system worked?, for one example of where you can go with this.

I'll start with a couple of obvious FACTS:

#1. Donald J. Trump is now the 3rd President to have been impeached by the House of Representatives.
#2. Donald J. Trump is now the 3rd President to have been acquitted of the impeachment charges.

#3. Donald J. Trump is now the very 1st President to have had a member of his OWN political Party vote for impeachment and removal!

THE VERY FIRST!
Spin that Trumpets!

#3b. Donald J. Trump just had the last Republican Presidential nominee vote to remove him ffrom office for corrupt behavior contrary to the best interests of the United States of America!

I've gotta few more "takeaways"........but I'll save them until a few of you other folks have a chance to have your say and educate me as to what YOU took away!

Rather Historical, don't you think?
Imagine what the history books will say about this so-called "trial" and how our Senators responded to the challenge?
I can hazard a decent guess, and I'm betting McConnell is gonna end up famous in a VERY unflattering manner.
Tickles me no end actually!

I took away the fact that the Democratic Party is a joke. They have been trying to remove Trump from office since before he even took the Oath. Maybe if they knew what they were doing, and could actually come to some internal agreement instead of fighting among themselves, they could have gotten more witnesses/facts, as it was their job to do, so they wouldn't be crying so much now. I think the Partisan political games have just started, and you'll see more and more impeachments moving forward, at least when the House and the President are from different Parties. Our system is broken because of the power Parties have, and there is no solution in site.

I'm gonna have to admit to agreeing that there doesn't seem to be an answer in sight.

Can't even argue against the dems being a joke..........been so for years IMO.
Trouble is the Repugs have become a bigger joke..........they've become the Ostrich party.
Sgt. Schultz should be their chairnazi.
Being a group of Dinosaur weren't enuff......they decided to become Ostriches............we don't WANNA know.
They can't handle the truth.

The dems may just be too stupid (and disorganized!) to find it!

THE ****?

Dems tried to get witnesses/facts, but Republicans blocked them!

Where are you getting your news from?

Fact is that Dems won't win in 2020 because of impeachment, OR that Trump is a bad person.

They will win by focusing on the issues. Healthcare. Immigration. Economy.

Point out that this economy isn't good for most Americans. That economic woes have been blamed on immigrants, not rampant capitalism. That immigration is net beneficial in every aspect of life. That Republicans have no plan for healthcare, and are utterly incompetent.

THAT'S how dems win in 2020.

Dec 2019 courtesy of CNN

As 2019 comes to a close, the US economy earns its highest ratings in almost two decades, potentially boosting President Donald Trump in matchups against the Democrats vying to face him in next year's election, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS.

Overall, 76% rate economic conditions in the US today as very or somewhat good, significantly more than those who said so at this time last year (67%). This is the highest share to say the economy is good since February 2001, when 80% said so.
Almost all Republicans (97%) say economic conditions are good right now, as do 75% of independents and 62% of Democrats. Positive ratings are up across parties compared with August of this year, when 91% of Republicans, 62% of independents and 47% of Democrats said the economy was in good shape.

The House committee requested Bolton's testimony, but he declined to appear voluntarily. The committee then made a strategic decision not to issue a subpoena demanding that he appear. The stated reason was that the action would be a futile one; Bolton wouldn't comply, and the House would have to take him to court (as it did with McGahn) to compel him to do so, and that could take months and months to wind its way through the courts.

Schiff didn't want to wait, wanted impeachment done by Christmas. Then Pelosi sat on it for a month, despite claims that Trump was a national security risk.

Then once at the Senate, their open and shut case needed more evidence so they pleaded for more witnesses...bravo.

If you are looking for the Dems, they are up Schiff's Creek...but hey, they sure had their **** in one sock in Iowa...well done. Its not like they had years to prepare or anything. ..oops. The shop may wanna put some training wheels under that big old clown car...

Since impeachment Trump's approval numbers have gone...up.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- President Donald Trump's job approval rating has risen to 49%, his highest in Gallup polling since he took office in 2017.

That 49% is higher than Obama had at this point of his first term...

Trump's approval rating has risen because of higher ratings among both Republicans and independents. His 94% approval rating among Republicans is up six percentage points from early January and is three points higher than his previous best among his fellow partisans. The 42% approval rating among independents is up five points, and ties three other polls as his best among that group. Democratic approval is 7%, down slightly from 10%.

The 87-point gap between Republican and Democratic approval in the current poll is the largest Gallup has measured in any Gallup poll to date, surpassing the prior record, held by Trump and Barack Obama, by one point.

Don't forget the House, mainly Schiff, wouldn't allow the Republicans to call witnesses. it was a partisan impeachment. 1st one ever. Make sure to list that as a FACT next to Trumps name as well.

That's NOT a Fact. Trump CHOSE to not have witnesses appear on his behalf.
He CHOSE to treat the whole thing as a "witchhunt" and refused to defend himself in the House.

Make sure you stay with the truth, here.

That doesn't lessen the valid point you make as to the dems. procedure.
It WAS a horrid mistake to try and rush the process for some time table.
The dems were (as usual) clueless as to how to operate successfully.
Of course, had they done things right, we'd still be right smack in the middle of a long contentious political battle, waiting for Court decisions, etc, and stretching the whole mess right smack into the National election.

Still, you tackle a big task, you MUST do it correctly. "Anything worth doing is worth doing right!"

And Doc, you know it's rather weird.

How can a Pres. with such a booming economy (that HE inherited BTW!) be so low in the opinion polls.
He may be at his highest at this point, but still...........under this economy He SHOULD have way better numbers, No?

Personal character DOES matter to many Americans.
Trump better hope with all he's got that our economy doesn't hit some snag before November, if that's all he's got to claim competence.
He sure doesn't seem competent in most other areas of leadership to most folks without blind allegiance to one party.

Bill Clinton's job approval rating ranged from 36% in mid-1993 to 64% in late 1993 and early 1994.[1] In his second term, his rating consistently ranged from the high-50s to the high-60s.[1][2] After his impeachment proceedings in 1998 and 1999, Clinton's rating reached its highest point at 73% approval.[3] He finished with a Gallup poll approval rating of 65%,[4] higher than that of every other departing president measured since Harry Truman.

Trumptards are bragging about a high of 49%
