2. The wall won't stop most actual illegal immigration.
3. The wall would make applying for asylum much harder.

FANTASTIC! Now give us your first and well thought solution.
Well, the first thing I would do is go back to catch and release and stop criminalizing asylum. Then I would crack down on unnecessary VISA overstays while also making it easier for people who actually want to renew their VISA to stay. I actually support ICE, and I support the idea of deportations IF people are actually here illegally and came with the intent of staying illegally.
