Canned response from support. Oh well

If you don’t get it back, consider joining us in the PAC-10.

Thx for the invite, but oddly, even with my 12 years of success at CSU LA (NT every year, NT champ, NT runner-up, elite-8s, I do not qualify for anything but the crapshow that is Hawaii and Fresno St.

I personally think Fresno is in a great position geographically, right in the middle of LA, Las Vegas, and the Bay Area. Big number of high D1 recruits within 300 miles every season. And the north is not typically as strong as the south.

All true statements, shoe3, but paying to suck for the next 3-5 seasons (at least) while trying to win good enough recruits at D+ prestige (the baseline prestige is B- which is tied for the worst of any power conference school) does not sound very appealing.

Support was helpful which allowed me to reach out to the owners who applied and politely ask if they would withdraw. We shall see.

No offense man, but wow, CS should not have done that.

I'm probably in the minority here, but seems to me once there's competiton for an abandoned job, you really have to just let the competition play out.

Fresno in Tark if brutal. USC A+, UCLA A+, Stanford normally A+(A atm). Arizona A+. One good thing is at least they're not in that division, they're in with Wash/Ore/Hawaii so they have at least a fighting chance.

You probably can get 2nd tier recruits , but with a low baseline prestige, and a handful of schools in the A range, it is a heck of a challenge to try to land those elite recruits at Fresno. It's not the worst job, but far less than ideal to try to win a title.

My tdowdy3 account was one of them. I did withdraw my application and took over Navy in Allen instead. While I will admit I only purchased this season to apply to CSULA I know he's been there a long time and it's a great team that he's spent a lot of time building up and I know how much I'd hate it had I been on the other side of the coin. I hope the rest of the players are as understanding.

I see he was able to get the team back so as far as I'm concerned, I'm glad for him and all is well.

Thanks to everyone who graciously withdrew, it was appreciated and I look forward to passing it on. In the end, there were still others with applications in, but I luckily was able to win the job as a 'new coach'

my guess is you probably would have gotten it anyway no matter who applied, you had a heck of a resume coming off a championship runner up. I would have been ticked off had I withdrawn and someone else got it, but I'm glad it was you.

I’m glad you were able to get your job back!

If you don’t mind answering, I have two questions.
1) Did you get a full recruiting budget because you’re now considered a new coach?
2) Did you lose your coach longevity preference?

Good questions, I had to go look:

1) Oddly, yes. I did get a full recruiting budget
2) I did not lose my coach longevity preference

Yup. This is a major bug but Seble doesn't think it's an issue for some crazy reason.
