I will say as I've always said.
-Remove real life baseline prestige and make baseline a performance based prestige over X number of seasons. Maybe include a minimum baseline prestige based on power 6 conferences. Big 6 schools will become open to lower level coaches as the prestige will become attainable as they freefall.
Additionally this is Hoops DYNASTY. If all that mattered were the schools that were already good in real life, then don't call it Dynasty because you're not building one if your performance is bad. Just call it race to Big 6. We should encourage the possibility of people building up low level teams and conference with dynamic prestige.
-The reason so many people enjoy DII and DIII is for the statements above.
I respectfully disagree. I think the climb to D1 is part of the appeal. As is some connection to real life (which is always poor with HD). Otherwise who cares what the name of the school says. They just need to make this climb less daunting and less nonsensical.
Regarding your last statement - in almost every world, there are more people playing D1 than D2/D3 combined. So they don't seem to like it THAT much.
The climb to DI is part of the appeal and some people only want to see the well known DI teams. I actually started playing that game with that in mind, but there's only so many UNCs or Dukes available in HD. Once people realize that their goal of playing at their favorite school is not really an option unless they get lucky and someone leaves, it's on to plan B. Plan B consists of can I still compete with everyone else on an even playing field based on how well I do at the game? Looking at Tark for example, the answer is no. Yes, Delaware St won it this last season, but the last champ from a non big 6 was 27 seasons prior. Think about much worse this was when the world's were full.
If I can't get to plan A, my plan B shouldn't be forced into a Big 6 school I don't want just to compete every season. The world should be dynamic where I could build any team into a real life Duke or Kentucky. If only Big 6 teams are allowed to be dynasties, let's just call the game Big 6 dynasty.
Also I never intended to state that D2/3 was more popular than D1, just that they are alive and popular with many for a reason. I miss how full they were pre 3.0.
