Your head is right if you assume infinite resources.

I'll concede the debate and we'll agree to disagree.

The folks behind him just look shell shocked. Eyes glazed over.
Even Barr keeps looking down and fidgeting as this moron harps on and on and on and on
Ramble Tamble, make a deal, it's all incredible!

Dumbest ******* EVER elected President by fools and crazy folk.
Were you one of the 63 million?
I can proudly say I was NOT!

Now he's talking about Boeing and what a great company they are............
?????????????
If you don’t vote for someone who will beat him you give him half a vote.

Convince me corrupt sleeepy Joe can beat him.
I don't think so.

The dems are f-ing up........... AGAIN! Big time!
Just like 2016.

If they can't even get MY vote where the f do you think they really are for a National election with Independent minded voters?
I'll tell you where, nowhere!

Why are you injecting a thought of infinite resources I’m simply talking about manufacturing ventilators.

Don’t think you speak logic to put it mildly.

It's a LONG time until the election.
Lots of things will happen.
Other things could happen.
we're dealing with the elderly here.

I'm hoping for a miracle.
Elizabeth Warren is gonna undergo a secret sex change operation, jump into the Dem nomination process as the unknown male candidate and based on the strength of his intellect we'll end up electing the Unknown candidate.
With a *****.
And thus, acceptable.

But I'm also hoping for the D'backs to win the World Series again so that tells you what a dreamer I am!

This.

It's easy to say "oh, we're the richest country in the world, we should have more beds, we should have more ventilators." The only way we have significant excess above average annual need is to have the costs subsidized by the government in some way, whether as grants to private hospitals or as part of a national health system. So the Federal government, presumably, is paying for that. The last time we've had a major epidemic in this country was the last pandemic. That was 101 years before this one. If we had our government pay for beds for all that time, waiting for this, how many fewer starving children could we have fed, housed, and educated? How many more people would have died in the interim?

In the real world, where resources are limited, having an excess of healthcare equipment is not the long-term distribution of resources that saves the most lives. It's easy to overreact to the moment. And to be clear - in the moment, it's appropriate to pay for equipment that we don't anticipate being in excess in the coming months. But don't pretend stockpiling such apparatus in the long term is an efficient way to protect American lives. It absolutely is not. We're a rich country, but not that rich.
