It's been awhile since I whined about how bad the user populations have gotten since the brilliant minds at WIS rolled out the changes with 3.0 so I'm getting a bit antsy.
I just saw on steam that 170,000 people played Football Manager 2020 TODAY. Football Manager is a Soccer sim that costs $49.99 to play. And somehow they've gotten nearly 200,000 people to play just today alone.
But somehow, WIS can't seem to find more than a couple hundred nerds to play Hoops Dynasty. Boggles my mind how badly they have just botched this awesome concept and created a game with horrible new user experience, terrible cost model and lazy execution.
You hit the nail on the head. It's just down to unwillingness to market the game. Lots of people here have suggested ways for WIS to get the word out about HD (or any of the other games). As far as I can tell, none of the suggestions have led to any real action, which is too bad because the product, while not perfect, is a very good product; every friend or family member I've gotten into the game has loved it, the majority of them not even serious college basketball fans. The market is there, especially in times like these when people are starved for competition and loaded with free time.
ALL of that said, Football Manager is a great game. I've been buying it since 2014.
