I saw the rule, just not sure how to interpret. I would basically get the player for a partial season it sounds like?

You can use either the partial or full season, your choice.

let us know if you have more questions like this, whether on this specific issue or other questions related to the game - a lot of veterans in here willing to help the new guys. Expanding people who enjoy whatif is something we all have an interest in doing and it can be confusing to new owners.
