Thanks guys. That's about what I was figuring. About Johnson, though, every AAA park in that world is basically Coors, so his 5.50 isn't as bad as it looks, especially since he's a flyball pitcher who Detroit should help. Still, I think he's probably 10-15 points of control short of being useful. It's a shame, because I've never seen anyone with that good a P5 and that kind of stam/dur combo and I'd love to see how it plays even with the not-great splits.
Kimbrel should have another 2-4 points everywhere except his pitch types, which are probably maxed out already. I probably don't need him as a starter but it's good to know he's not unplayable.
It's his control. Whatever batting average he gives up over his career, you can add about 100 points to that to get to his OBP. He also has slightly below average splits and only one decent pitch.
You can have guys with crummy control and they will be serviceable but every other stat had better be really good. This is an interesting study, all on the same team (2 of the guys are SSS)
Eduardo Burbon and
Alex Hunter have been my pleasant surprises. Both guys, I wondered as they progressed if they would be AAAA players or boarderline ML'ers. Things may change abruptly and my team and stadium are built to beef up a pitchers numbers but they both have been above and beyond expectations.
On the other side
Johan Butcher is great and probably is legit an Ace but should be legendary with his ratings. The problem is with a control of 70 he can have one bad inning where he walks 1 or 2. Then a homerun and it quickly skews stats.
Fun stuff to consider anyways.
