redshirting a senior Topic

So I have never done this, but it may make sense for me this season

1. Am I right that although his WE will plummet, seniors dont leave in response to a red shirt?
2. Is the right tactic to leave the guy off the depth chart, set at mop up, but dont red shirt until late in the season so he gets the benefit of improvement?
3. when is the deadline to apply the red shirt - okay to wait until after the conference tournament?
4. Does red shirting a senior have an effect on the EE rules - the sum of your graduating scholarship seniors (other than 1 year transfers) plus your EEs cannot exceed 6. If I have 5 seniors and red shirt one of them, can I lose TWO EEs??

I should know these things, but dont - and I bet someone is an expert on this tactic - help me out?

Regarding your third question, you'll find it in World Schedule (a truly helpful feature). For example in Wooden:
Friday 4/24 2:00 AM Postseason tournaments end
11:59 PM Deadline to renew teams
11:59 PM Player redshirt deadline

Regarding your other questions, I believe I have read that sometimes they leave, but I haven't done it myself. Good luck.

1. Correct.
2. Yes, but realize with extreme foul trouble he may sneak in a game and ruin the plan. Unusual but possible.
3. As stated above, see worod schedule for your exact date. Also, you must leave a scholarship open in recruiting first session. it won't let you redshirt what would be a 13th guy.
4. Not sure, sorry.

2. Even if there’s a slight risk that he gets into a game and thwarts your plan, getting the scholarship resources for the extra year is worth it. If you redshirt him at the start of the season, you won’t get those resources.
3. Nor will it let you redshirt the seventh in a class, so if you have 6 rising juniors, you won’t be able to redshirt a senior.
4. Since EEs declare right after the championship game, the system will go with your roster as it stands at that point. Another reason you don’t want to put the redshirt on him until after they’ve declared, ie the last day of the season, after the championship game.
