“I only use FSS (Scouting Service) and individual scouting”
My approach is almost exactly the opposite; the only time I scout a guy individually is very late in recruiting, there might be a D1 INTL I’m curious about. That’s not to say my way is right, and cub is wrong. There is no “right way”, though there are plenty of wrong ways - most involve not understanding the relative value of attributes, or how the game mechanics work, or completely misjudging (in either direction) how high you can reach. You probably want to get a mentor and talk through your approach before pressing buttons. If you haven’t done that, all is not lost, because at D3 you can move up pretty quickly, a lost season of recruiting won’t kill you. And if you want, you can start over next season at D2, which lots of folks find more fun (and easier, in some ways) than D3.
I’ve recently joined GD, and in getting ready for my first season, came across an analytical blog series to the effect of “Have a Plan”. That’s basically it here, too. Develop a plan that makes sense to you, is fun for you, and is reasonable given what we know about the system, and then try to execute.
