Hi all! This is mostly targeted to those who own the site, but does anyone know if there are plans to reorganize the leagues to reflect real life? I am a big SEC fan and it feels a bit lame to be competing in the non-real SEC (including Missouri and Texas A&M, for example).

i struggle with this one... i get the value for new coaches, but i kind of would hate to see it from a selfish point of view - its a big undertaking - i'd rather see movement somewhere else. first off, how do you move someone who loves their current conference? i think it could be balanced by only moving teams around coaching changes, and perhaps by allowing the current HC to make the choice (to go to the correct conference), but even that is far more complex than it sounds, with schedules being set in advance and all.

second, the game is hard-wired for 12 teams to a conference. perhaps a bad decision, but it is what it is now. unwinding that is non trivial - they only support 1 schedule format - they would have to support very many, especially if trying to future-proof the the thing.

finally - stats become messy. conference player of the year, do you just leave that? move it as the school moves? the problem is, regardless of what our preference is, this is unlikely to be trivial from the game developer's standpoints. it just creates so many edge cases to deal with.

i suspect the reality is - the game developers could find a way to make this big instead of huge - but they'd have to make choices based on what was easiest, and people would end up having numerous complaints about the way it was handled. so its probably a head ache either way.

that said... it does feel... kinda hankey, i guess, from a new person's standpoint. so i get the desire to fix it. it just basically sucks, one of those situations where every outcome is a negative - its just, what is the least worst option?

Not happening. It'll never align exactly, and most of us frankly don't care that much.
Not sure you have the authority to speak for "most of us" and I constitute at least one person who does care.

Yeah, good perspective on the development side. I'm not new - been playing for some time now. I've been chewing on it and thought I'd make a post. It does seem like a huge undertaking, though.

Calm down. It's a topic that comes up every so often but then dies out fast.

I'm perfectly calm. Just noting your dismissive post didn't add to a constructive conversation. Have a good day!

Because conferences are constantly realigning, I’d be more in favor of allowing user realignment - including relegation and delegation for all D3 and D2 teams, and all but the A- and above baseline prestige D1 teams. It would be a big programming change, but if the programming could be worked to recognize the team ID apart from the specific team info, it should, in theory, be straightforward to let team name, location, roster, and history slide into those slots, between conference, and even up and down divisions. I’m not a programmer, though, so easy for me to say.

Sounds like chaos and I love it.

With all due respect, kaw, KC is pretty accurately conveying you the sentiment of the HD community. I brought up this a while ago and it got shot down and I was confused why. Now, after building some serious bonds with my conference mates in high DI, I realize how ****** off people would be with conference realignment.

reallignment would also - could also - imply updates of baseline prestige. Some would like that, some would hate it

Some schools would have a big change in their situation - take UConn - in the game its Big East with high baseline. What conference are they in now - the All American AAA Conference?
Going back to Big East with underlyine pay back to the AAC.

i kinda agree with this even though i said it differently... what cubcub mentions is a common experience. most of us would take conf realignment if we could wave a wand - but due to the endless complexity, and the lack of changes on HD in general - we basically have given up hope that it will ever happen. so now, HD conferences are canon, and real life can shove it?

Yeah that's I think a perspective most of us share.
