I coulda swore Shane Battier was already taken, but I can't find him anywhere. Can anyone else confirm that's not a duplicate pick?

I think someone posted and deleted it and repicked before next pick occurred

FULL RIDE RULE:

Drafted Players needs to participate his SENIOR YEAR
Hopefully this eliminates a 'ONE & DONE' Philosophy

Hopefully this helps us avoid taking a one year player and then going
GRAD TRANSFER for the remainder of his eligible seasons as a strategy.

EXAMPLE: 12th round is a Freshman round -
we need to make sure our 'Freshman' will
have his 'Senior year in his 4th season'.

Going Forward, we want to AVOID selecting a ONE YEAR player or short term guy
(or a guy who doesn't have a senior year)
and then going 'One and Done' for those other seasons of his eligibility.
SAME for ROUND 11 Juniors - those guys need to have a "senior year."

I suppose we will be OK or FINE with guys that miss those "middle seasons" (Soph. & Junior)....
We have already established how we will handle a player that misses a season (GRAD TRANSFER)
?
An interesting aspect of this theme is PLANNING -
CAP league has quicker turn around (4 year cycle) than a traditional progressive,
and longer than a year to year league -

define participate
some players only have 1 or 2 good seasons. i don’t want to tie my hands when drafting as this draft in the years to come will be difficult enough with the talent thinning out.

Participate: on your roster for his SENIOR season -

a big part of the challenge is the THINNING of talent and how you build your team.

A "ONE AND DONE" philosophy circumvents planning,
and churns toward a yearly league instead of a a progressive.

GRAD TRANSFER segment is necessary to handle injuries.
We should avoid a FULL "CALIPARI approach"...

(I'm a 4th generation Kentucky fan, so it pains me to cast Calipari in a negative light,
or link his name to something to avoid - he has been VERY GOOD to Big Blue Nation)

I fundamentally disagree with this. You are making a new rule in the middle of a draft when I was planning to do something else.

Also, I have had the bottom freshman picks the entire draft and would prefer to use grad transfers for my last picks rather than be committed to the worst freshman in this draft.

I'm not sure One and Done is the best strategy anyway. I've considered it, but is drafting in the 4th round next year, better than an 11th or 12th round pick this year? I'm not so sure it is. Only half the senior picks (36 seniors) from this draft are going to be available next year to re-draft, so after 3 rounds of drafting next year we will essentially be 36 picks into rookies as the best options or what's left of these players after 12 rounds of drafting. The first pick in a 4th round grad transfer draft next year would be the 37th best rookie, or whats left after 12 rounds in this draft. There aren't 37 good options for rookies in any given season anyway.

Problem might have been solved by staggering this draft by drafting seniors from 68, 88, 08, juniors from 69, 89, 09, sophomores from 70, 90, 10, and freshman from 71, 91, 11. But that is moot.

Yeah, this can’t be added now for these first four seasons. If you want to start this in S2 that would be fine.

DISCUSSION -

Lets PAUSE the DRAFT - and determine the direction we will adopt on this issue

I received a few texts wanting to avoid ONE & DONE,
now we have a few comments wanting ONE AND DONE -

WHAT IS our FEEDBACK on this issue??

and before there is WIDESPREAD PANIC about time and draft -
we are two rounds from finish - and this is an issue that needs to be addressed ....
