I think we should keep it as is for 2 seasons. This appears to me to be a very new and unique theme. There's going to be growing pains. Do it for 2 seasons since some owners already committed to a plan. Season 3 we tighten the eligibility. That gives all owners a chance to adjust their planning . One man's opinion

So in the future you can’t draft someone unless they have 4 seasons of eligibility?

What if Bird graduated and is draft eligible again but has 3 years left? He can’t be drafted cause he won’t have a Senior year?

I agree with dBKC, jackedjamie, and Uofa2. No rule change at this time. At this point we're just hoping to draft a player who has one decent season in the next 3 or 4 years anyway. I think people who are counting on a 4th round draft pick next year to give them an edge are going to be sorely disappointed. It's not a strategy you could really employ with any predictor of success. The rules already account for missing seasons. Let it stand and see how it plays out.

What's leftover in the 4th round of next year after all these players are already off the board from rookies starting next year won't be worth fighting about as a 4th round pick. It's not a strategy you could really employ with any predictor of success. Sure it's slim pickins now... but the one and done strategy isn't any better. It's actually better to draft a player with at least one good season in the next 4 years now, than it is to browse the list of rookies starting next year and hope that the 37th best one of those will have at least one good year in the next four as well. I think people who are counting on a 4th round draft pick next year are going to be sorely disappointed.
Exactly, well stated

Keep the *one and done* philosophy.
We havent even used it yet and guys are complaining about it.
Let's try it and see what happens.

Pex, that is how I'm preparing my roster -
to have made selections that would be good enough to avoid wasting value on a one year band-aid...

I’m thinking I might have been an accident, but my post on the previous page has been flagged for review.

My sentiments exactly, keep the rules the way they are and see how it goes. If one and done begins to occur we can address the issue then.

OK - I am in agreement

We will keep things as they stand.

We will NOT require a player to play in their SENIOR season.

The ONE and DONE situation may be addressed in the future -
But again, I will utilize an open forum for our owners to provide feedback,
before making major changes or shifts in our rules.

I will send a site mail text stating that we will NOT restrict teams to
to require a player use his "SENIOR" season -

WE STILL CAN NOT CUT a player - (i order to free up his roster spot)
but we may DRAFT a player that is not able to play his full term of seasons.

Lets RESTART our DRAFT -

John Calipari has used it for years. Hasn't worked real well lately

Cal needs a better mix of one and done and role players.
He still is producing fine teams - This seasons team had growing pains -
but I think they would have made a very strong showing in the torny...

Last seasons team was VERY good - Auburn was VERY fortunate to squeak out an OT win in elite 8
Bruce Pearl stated that they were the best team and should have won that seasons title if not for his teams elite 8 victory.
The Fox - Monk- Bam team eliminated by buzzer beater by the eventual champion was a FANTASTIC squad...
The ref. Big Blue Nation had such an issue with certainly didn't help matters.

so, I cant say it is not working - but a better mix would certainly go a long way

Gentlemen, I am the one who asked the Commish about this, so I'll take the blame. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't going to be "challenged" by other owners if I took a 2-year player as a Freshman. I'm glad we have a Commish who's willing to listen and rule accordingly. As stated, this is a new League, which means there will probably be other things that come-up for discussion. When they do, let's handle them civilly. That will be best for everyone. Now, WTH is HDS1 with his pick?
