Promise starts - only get to 19 Topic

Is he going to leave?

Forgot to start him at the beginning of the season. Got him back where the promised minutes are ok, but only going to get him to 19 starts.

His WE is down only 1 (was 4 before until got the promised minutes current).

If he is going to leave, I'd like to plan for it in recruiting.

My understanding it is Ok if a promised guy gets 20 or 21 starts (?)

But will 19 be enough?

Keep starting him through conference tourney, and postseason if you get there. If you don’t get an all clear message, you could lose him, but my understanding is that the more starts, better the odds for you, and postseason starts count in your favor. Maybe that’s just for minutes, though. Can’t say for certain.

If he whined twice, you probably losing him. If he whined once, he will rewrite to you, thanks, you respected you promise, bla-bla-bla... but it’s not definite, most stay, some leave. I had all scenarios and sometimes it stinks when it is a frosh you build on.

I haven’t heard of a player leaving after he sends the all-clear message. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen, of course. Have folks had this experience? If so, was the last message the all-clear, or did the player complain again later in the season?

I’ve gotten a second message after the all clear. But that was a one time thing.

I have had a player (D1, 660 rating) at the end, whined, got him the minutes by changing his fatigue setting, he wrote back saying thanks but still left. Only one whine. I think it happened one more time but not sure so...

I recently had a guy get hurt in the preseason and went to rest. I forgot to switch him back until game 11. He was down 46 work ethic, came back to only down 12, and stayed.

Thanks guys.

I got an ok from him on the miniutes. He never missed a game and he is now way over his promised minutes. I'm still a littl;e copncerned cuz I figure his WE should have been all the way back by now (he is still down 1).

After seeing the responses, I bet he is going to stay. If not, I'll post the details.

i virtually guarantee he will stay, like i would probably take a 10 to 1 bet on it for a fair amount of money.

7 games in is when you get your first message, right? so soon as he complained, you've met the promise the rest of the way? this used to be guaranteed to stay, a 100% take it to the bank guarantee. in 3.0, i picked up a d3 team and skipped the first 12-14 games on 2 guys (not letting them play a minute even) to see where'd they'd quit. i think i meant to do like 10 and 14 but lost track of time. both stayed.

the guarantee that you keep a player (possibly with WE hit) for skipping promises till the first complain used to be ironclad across the board, but i think seble has reworked minutes promises enough times now that im unclear on minutes - but starts seem to work about the same as they always did. a good point of study for folks who do studies, perhaps.

actually, here's the real value if anyone does decide to do such a study. is there a zone where you can 1) guarantee a player stays but also 2) guarantee, or at least, have high odds of them losing work ethic? if so, and i suspect the answer is yes, you could use this in d1 for EE manipulation and pocket a substantial benefit. i set out to do so right when i started 3.0 like a year ago but all i discovered is that i am too old and lazy for studies now. what a waste of 3 seasons, or whatever it was. at least i found the free hv/cv glitch and seble fixed that, so i guess some good did come of it!
