I'd have a good squad for 2020 NBA but depending on your view of whether Karl Malone can play small ball center against Hakeem/DRob/Ewing, I might get my butt kicked in 1990

2. copernicus - Michael Jordan, Mookie Blaylock, Bill Walton, Bob McAdoo - McAdoo has that one really, really great season where he gives you a bit of everything, another great scoring year, and then several other seasons of solid efg+usg & dreb. Defense is average (or below average) in most of those seasons. He gives Mike a reliable second scoring option, and with the superior defense the rest of the squad has, those years of sub 50 defense aren't going to kill you.

3. bds9992 - Karl Malone, Nikola Jokic. Serge Ibaka, Andre Iguodala - Iggy is an interesting guy. He's all over the board with what type of player he is, and he's not really bad at any of it. He's quite good as a support guy, which makes sense considering Mailman & Jokic up front. Defense, dimes, solid efg%, solid boards at the 2, some 3s, and the tov% is even pretty decent several seasons.

4. kinoa1 - Shaquille O'Neal, Walt Frazier, Bobby Jones, Kyrie Irving - threes, enough dimes since you've got Clyde at the 2, pretty absurdly good tov% for a PG... thank god he doesn't have more minutes or better defense. You continue to draft in a superior fashion.

5. 24kpyrite - Chris Paul, Bill Russell, Patrick Ewing, Paul Pierce - Pierce gives you the third piece of your usage puzzle and is a solid piece indeed. Fine boards, solid (for the most part-excellent a couple of seasons) efg+usg+def+dimes combo for a 2, tov% can be a bit high for a higher usage guy in some seasons, but other seasons it's pretty nice. He's a nice fit and has a good number of good seasons to use.

6. tarheel1991 - Kevin Durant, Tyson Chandler, Jerry Lucas, Chris Mullin - Mullins was one of my favorite players ever, but I have never used him in a draft or a prog league that I can recall. I've always wanted to run that 89-90 season but just never did. Looking at the numbers, he looks like he should be legit as a scoring two. I don't like the lack of threes (which is ironic, because it was something he was considered good at - I wonder what he'd been like in this era... regular 200+ 3pm guy, I'd bet). Anyway, nice usg+efg+def combo with decent ast for a SG. Some years has nicer reb than others, but all in all solid. He's pretty good at orb for a guard, which helps because of KD. His tov% was lower than I thought it was (in the higher usg seasons, anyway). When I first saw the pick, I didn't like it, but after looking it over in more detail, I think he fits your squad well and like it a lot.

7. jpevans31 - Dwight Howard, Ben Wallace, Sidney Moncrief, Brent Barry - I like everything about the Barry pick: Gives you superior efg%+3pms as well as solid ast% & def some seasons. He's hit or miss on boards & turnovers - good on some years, lackluster on others. The thing I like most about the pick, though, is that you're really forcing yourself to have to draft usage at the three, because otherwise, my entire feedback was going to be: "I'm kindly asking you to stop drafting so well."

8. samuelyork93 - John Stockton, Dirk Nowitzki, Clyde Drexler, Bob Lanier - Solid boards; usg+efg won't kill you (some years are good, some are just below 50). Defense is either really good (84) or kind of meh (40-60). Okay ast% but you're already well covered by Stockton & Drexler for that.

9. gerryred - David Robinson,Shawn Marion, Mark Price, Kyle Korver - Threes & efg% at a low usg (which you didn't need high usg). Fine tov% & drb% at the 2. There was a guy I like batter here but Korver is still fantastic.

10. dskantor - Moses Malone, Paul George, Pau Gasol, Derek Harper - defense, solid efg%, solid dimes, some threes, incredibly low tov% ... he was about the best PG left on the board and better than several guys that went earlier. I had forgotten about him and hate myself now.

11. pexetera - Charles Barkley, Shawn Kemp, Andrei Kirilenko, Clint Capela - two seasons of superior efg% & boards. Nice usg with them. Solid defense. The partial seasons will make decent backup/rotation seasons. The only thing I hate about this pick is that I didn't get to make it.

12. dbkc - James Harden, Rudy Gobert, Alonzo Mourning, Donyell Marshall - Ah, Donyell... one absolutely killer season, another solid one, and another one that's nice but low minute. And then absolutely ******* horrid the rest of the time. Like, put them on rest rest of time bad. Idk. You're going to be real scary one season.

With Ben and Dwight, I think jp could play Brent at the 3. Oops, shouldn't have said that.

(nice first four picks man!)

I've got some decent Usg SFs left on my list. I just took the risk that 1 will be left by the time I pick again. Brent was high on my list of role-players, less likely he made it to my next pick. If all of my SF options are taken... Then, damn...

Random, weird, unrelated, potentially unreliable thoughts:

Ben has a grit & grind monster but needs perimeter players and they're running out
Suns' Nance is underrated & I hope I'll get a chance to see him finally
20ks could be really nice if he takes one of the guys I'm looking at.....in which case I would ask him to leave one for me!
I love Shawn Kemp & I plan on proving it in the near future
Matrix is so frustrating & so beautiful at the same time
I see a certain guy in tarheel's future but I could be wrong, also I got love for Knicks Lucas, specifically that one 73 D season
which reminds me - there's a very valuable player still at large! Wonder how long it takes for him to get scooped up

Yeah, dskantor really nailed his last two picks. I was really close to picking Harper - god knows I need a PG - but I was worried that his super weak rebounding would restrict me too much in the kids of SG I would need to find in the 5th round or beyond (assuming I keep KD at the 3).

I've said before I'm not a Moses fan - the fouls and TOs can eat you up, and the efficiency is good but not great. But it's hard to imagine nailing the next three picks around him any better (assuming he can finally unlock my bff, Paul George, who just can't seem to figure things out in draft leagues recently).

is 'one great season' the winning formula?

There's quite a few of them left if that's the way to go tbh. We could see a run on them soon.

apparently sgs who have really high dreb% dont come with good defense/ast/3s....who knew?
{hand up!}

yeah, I think that's what is going to happen in the back half of the draft - no cap, picking all 12 spots - just put the guy on rest for most seasons but that one glorious run

1-2 great seasons...

55(20) + 50(7) + 44(2) + 37 + 37 = 252

vs

balanced across all 5...

51(7) + 48(6) + 47(5) + 45(1) + 42 = 252

sooo ?

I'm not sure it is possible to be balanced across all 5 teams. are there really 12 rounds of draft players who give you roughly equal usable minutes for all 5 seasons? it's more of an academic question because practically it's going to shake out where there are stronger teams than others in the 5. I'd personally be happy with 3 out of 5 strong teams

I feel like we are all getting into some pretty interesting gamesmanship right now. A lot of “I expect a run on these types” when that is what we are hoping for because we already got those types and need “actually these guys” and are hoping that actually these guys will be available.
