The game evolved immensely in a relatively short period of time. I know this ... if I show footage of Magic and Michael to my 14 year old son (and to him the 80's are like ... OLD) he is actually wowed. Big time. If I show footage of 50's basketball he laughs. That's 30 years of basketball evolution in a nutshell to me.

yeah there's tons of footage of him (cousy) doing pretty great stuff - the one handed thing is overstated/he's ******* around running out the clock if it's what I think it is - but also, no, you're right he couldn't hang in today's game athletically

on the other hand can we get today's players to play in shoes with cardboard soles (Chucks) and play 45 minutes a night at a pace that is like 30% higher than they play now?

what I feel is best summed up thus - if the 1987 Lakers played the 73 win Warriors a very spindly, long limbed fellow, 8 time all defense and 1 time DPOY player to be named later would either foul out in 5 minutes or devour Steph Curry's soul depending entirely on which era's rules were being enforced - if we're playing by 1987 rules this New Mexico alumnus eats Steph's lunch, drinks his milkshake and sends him home to cry to mommy

given time to adapt Steph absolutely would but so too would many of the dudes from yesteryear vice versa

give many of the players of yesteryear the advantages in nutrition, training, health medicine, and equipment enjoyed by today's players and they would be just fine - still ain't no one jumping higher than the Skywalker to this day and human evolution doesnt happen that quick in any event

Tony Hawk watched someone come off a ramp and do a 360 in the air with a backside grab and was like OMG that's amazing! can I do that? and then eventually he was like 'can I do that 3 times over?'

there's a thru line from a guy like Dr J (and undrafted predecessors) to a guy like Mike to whoever today - sometimes you cant even conceive of a thing until someone drops your jaw to the floor and then you get to advance from there because 'oh, that's possible'

Talent pool is already starting to dwindle a bit. Will be very interesting to see what kind of names go in the later rounds.

Praying George Mikan makes it back to me. The original GOAT!

I had thoughts on draft fatigue. I’m thinking maybe I put us on a clock for the last 2-4 rounds? I think that’s probably late enough where getting skipped won’t be a big deal.

I also thought about maybe having a buyers remorse period. When the last timed pick(probably 9pm) is finished we have a window of time when owners may drop 1 player and pick up a new one. Not very savage but might be necessary for some owners when trying to put the teams together. Players that are dropped can be picked up immediately by any owner. What do you guys think?

My initial thought would be no. This would give a huge advantage to anyone who was able to be on at that particular time. Plus as you said, not really savage.

I also vote no. You drafted Hakeem in the first, that’s on you.
