Tonight is the night I always fear in the first round. I'm the #11 seed but vastly more talented than my opponent overall. However I try to temper my excitement of pulling the "upset" because I'm afraid of being disappointed when I lose.

Coach… NT is about coaching these days. Don't take the W for granted, exploit the other team's weaknesses.

You know, I coached HS Football for about 20 years. You work your *** off all week for a game on Friday night. Often times on Friday's I would be incredibly anxious about an hour before the game, I would have already double and triple checked my notes, equipment and stuff like that; there wasn't anything for me to do but just wait. We would then finish warm ups and I would make my way through the crowd, sometimes it was friendly, other times less so, and climb up two flights of steps to the top of the pressbox, where I would take my position above the 1,000+ people in attendance. Every week, and I mean every weak, I would put the head sets on, do the obligatory check checks and then say to whoever was on the other end, "Coach, remember, win or lose, we still booze."

I mean, at the time, I meant it literally but if you take it figuratively, it's a solid motto for life IMO. If you are prepped, if you are ready, all you can do it play the game.

Thanks..... I got very nervous reading the play by play.... but we pulled it out. Tonight I play a team I won against in the regular season, but am definitely an underdog against.

i like it. you just need to balance things out by committing to sobriety in the event of a tie. i like to carve out an exception for ties that feel like a win and ties that feel like a loss, but still - a man must have a code!

They did away with ties in early 2000's. No need to codify.

thats sort of the point :) i dont believe all meaningful sports games (including HS) have this rule, which is where the exception comes in!
