You know, I coached HS Football for about 20 years. You work your *** off all week for a game on Friday night. Often times on Friday's I would be incredibly anxious about an hour before the game, I would have already double and triple checked my notes, equipment and stuff like that; there wasn't anything for me to do but just wait. We would then finish warm ups and I would make my way through the crowd, sometimes it was friendly, other times less so, and climb up two flights of steps to the top of the pressbox, where I would take my position above the 1,000+ people in attendance. Every week, and I mean every weak, I would put the head sets on, do the obligatory check checks and then say to whoever was on the other end, "Coach, remember, win or lose, we still booze."
I mean, at the time, I meant it literally but if you take it figuratively, it's a solid motto for life IMO. If you are prepped, if you are ready, all you can do it play the game.
