Keys. I mostly write and produce now, but did a lot of touring before I had kids. I wrote and produced a song for Wayman Tisdale back in the day when he played for Phoenix, to bring it full circle back to basketball. Super nice guy. Passed away too soon.
Ah ****, I remember that album! It was actually pretty good, I was surprised since it was an NBA player. I always thought the Bernie Williams album was pretty decent for an athlete.

Wayman was super funky. His stuff as a leader was on the smoother side but it was more like Marcus Miller than Kenny G. Used to listen to him play Get Down On It all the time in high school

Every time I see Bill Russell I keep expecting him to play Inner Urge or Red Clay. No such luck.

I've worked with Bernie too. And Yeah Wayman had a lot of soul and played really well for not knowing much theory. Big Victor Wooten fan. Super cool guy.

Funny, I'm really good friends with the guy who produced Wayman's Get Down on it. Crazy all of this is getting brought up in a basketball forum.

I know. My two worlds have finally collided. Never thought I'd see it.

Then again, there are parallels between jazz and basketball.

I mean, isn't the cliche that basketball is jazz?

Not sure what the High Fidelity vid was in reference to but good stuff... haven't seen that movie in forever. I like all kinds of music (was kidding about the snob thing) but the thing I really dig about progressive is that it dips into so many other genres (including jazz). I've been going nuts with ambient stuff lately.

I'm currently working on putting together a home recording studio. I mainly play guitar and dabble on other instruments.

We should all make an album and dedicate it to Seble. We'll call it "What If You're Not Really Here At All?" or even do a nod to Pink Floyd with "Wish You Weren't Here (Oh, You're Not)"

Nice! I have some synths (including a Mini Moog Model B...the house I grew up in had a leaky roof and boarded windows but my dad spent a bunch of money on instruments...) but I’m better at sound design than actually playing keys. I play guitar, bass, and my best instrument is the sampler, I get down on the MPC.

I wrote all of this (brought two horn players in and had them play what I wrote. I play bass on it. Treated all the instruments like samples and finished it on my sampler). It’s an older one but I’m proud of it bc it was released as a music video on Strange Music which is the biggest label in my city (KC) (and the biggest Indy label period) and is TechN9ne’s label. The rapper at the beginning says “deadBeat!” which is my alias (dB, a play of words on decibel). It’s a rap song but was made with 4 different horns and a bass and a few vinyl records.

Very cool. I'm almost all soft-synth now, but I did a lot of stuff with Akai samplers. I still endorse Korg though I don't know why since I rarely use my Triton anymore. LOL.

You every use the model D softsynth? It's not bad. Probably not as beefy as the real thing but I like it.
