For everyone who said Shaq was in their top 1 or 2: which seasons?

I'll assume everyone is picking 99-00 and 00-01. Personally, I'd go with 02-03. After that, hard to say. 92-93? 93-94? 08-09? 04-05?
99-00

One pick I wish I could take back: Dave Cowens

His minutes are his biggest selling point but I’m barely playing him on each team and I could’ve easily found someone who could’ve done more in that amount of minutes.

anyone else have any regretful picks?
I would say Nash, but if I knew I would Not get Klay there, just trading down might have been a regret. I can’t believe Ash stole him from me.

watch him go like 36th or something next season.
I took Jon Barry too soon but I really like him a lot, so I don’t regret the player as much as the position. Bledsoe, Barry and Collison is a nice PG rotation. I probably took Horford a round too early, but three positions with nice efficiency and good enough passing to overcome light guards was too sexy. If I push them both back a round I might have been able to get one better rotation player. I am not using David West much but I took him hella late anyway.

How often do you guys play someone at less than 100% positional efficiency? I usually keep everyone at 100 (sometimes 99) but I've got people playing minutes on some of my teams at 96-98 efficiency and I'm pretty nervous about it. If I had someone playing that low on fatigue, I'd consider resting them for a game, but at the same time 96% of some players is likely better than 100% of others so I'm trying to weigh out the pros/cons.
I don't like to do it, personally. Margins can be slim in this game, particularly in single-season draft leagues, and I don't like giving up even 1-2% of a guy's effectiveness if I don't have to. But I'm probably too rigid on that, and there are times when it makes sense. Heck, in this league I'm starting Durant at SG for one of my teams even though he's only 99% there.

I gave my teams numbers to help keep them apart, but no one should read too much into them; they don't correlate with how good I think they'll be. Heck, I can't even tell how good I think they'll be. There are two I like a little better than the others, but they may not be the "best." Really for most of them I wouldn't be shocked by anything between 35 and 50 wins. Hope none of them are worse than that.

I however did give clues to which one of my teams I believe to be good or not as team name, but was lying. Or was I? Never engage in WIS when DEATH IS ON THE LINE!!!

Does anyone have a clue about how WiS is handling the 19-20 release? Since only 22 teams are going to keep going, do we think that they'll just use the stats accrued before Covid, or are they going to wait and add in stats for the games played in the bubble? WiS might not even be sure yet, but I figure someone here might've heard something.

Nice writing Ben and Sam. That is the first time I have seen you do lengthy writeup in a while Ben, maybe since you got married even?
All I know is that I'm 100% certain that her parents ended up with two useless draft picks in the deal and Ben set himself up with a dynasty.

I ended up going with his top 4 salary seasons, and then 02-03 over 94-95. I preferred the 80D over the 65D. 94-95 may have 4 more minutes per game, but I'm using 18-19 JaVale McGee to back him up (62.5 efg%, 32.8 CRB%, 76D, 18M per game), so the minutes are irrelevant. The 02-03 Shaq/18-19 McGee combo is a beast.
oh my heart... 94-95 Shaq is my 2nd favorite Shaq! That tov% is LEGENDARY.

This is the greatest forum post in WiS past, present or future. Congrats, ash.

No clue, though I'm sure we won't get 19-20 releases until the season is over. I expect they will extrapolate stats over a full season somehow, just like they did with the 98-99 lockout-shortened season. If it were me, I would extrapolate the stats based on the number of games each player's team played; so if they got left out of the 22-team group, but played in every game their team played, they'd end up with a full 82 games' worth of stats. They may, however, end up extrapolating over the maximum number of games any team played, such that if the teams in the 22-team group play 75 games, but your team got left out and you played in only 65, you would have your stats extrapolated in a formula like 65/75 = x/82 (which would mean 71 games).

Jesus this is hilarious.

there were a couple useful Brad Daugherty seasons no one chose to use - clean, high efg, decent usage, meh boards and no defense to speak of but still - thoughts?

Yeah good point. The combo of the bad D and poor boards surely scared people off, but his best 2-3 seasons are pretty much Pau Gasol with better efg% and worse D.

OK my teams are in and have been tinkered with and I've promised myself not to look at them again until the league starts. No more crunching the numbers to decide which Bob Gross season makes the most sense as the 4 mpg backup at PG who may have to play 10 mpg at SG depending on things are working out.

Note: I will likely break this promise by roughly 4 PM

Yep. But there are five teams to build. I'm looking at the entire team's strengths/weaknesses when I pick a Shaq. But truth be told I'm not vacillating between him and 02-03 Shaq. It's between him and 92-93 Shaq, who is a much better rebounder/defender on my defense/rebound deficiant team. But 92-93 Shaq also has a terrible tov so I'm certainly not set.
