You should have told me it was foxnews so I could have saved myself a click :)

Just because it's Fox doesn't mean it's automatically untrue. I think we have reason to believe this story. I called it silly because I, as a Christian, don't agree that kneeling is sacred and only for Jesus. Kneeling in support of social justice is probably OK.

I don't really care, though. That guy can do whatever he wants, as long as he extends the same right to others.

The article makes the assumption that
a) One cannot be for "take a knee" and also for specific policies in terms of CJR. Taking a knee is a powerful sign of solidarity, especially when used by police officers (double points if they don't start tear gassing people after they stand up).
b) Kaep's protest was about, or did disrespect the flag, which it absolutely did not. You can be of the opinion that it did, but your opinion wouldn't be shared by the people who actually participated in the protest. If you want to boycott the NFL over some players protesting police brutality, you can leave in my book.

MY quarterback believes that Black Lives Matter. MY quarterback also believes in solidarity and racial justice.

My quarterback also happens to be the best in the world and a champion, so that helps too.

I ultimately don’t have an issue if people want to know. I personally would not do it. I think a lot of people are doing it to “apologize for their white privilege.” I guess I missed the day when they were handing that out out. There are other ways to show solidarity, but do whatever warms your heart

Mainly, I posted the article because I thought it was cool that my town of 1500 people made a major news network. I see that cop all the time.

Every day you walk out of your door NOT AFRAID of the police you’re handed that privilege card. Just because you DON’T RECOGNIZE YOUR PRIVILEGE doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I worked hard for EVERYTHING I have in life. No one handed me anything. Yet I look at my life and recognize that MY American experience is NOT the same as that of others. If you’re a white guy, you really should take a hard, honest look at your life and see the TRUTH staring back at you.

I went for a bike ride this morning with my friend Danny and developed a bubble in my back tire about 6 miles out. It got to the point that my bike was unrideable. We stopped to size up the situation and as we were looking at the tire, it exploded sounding like a gun shot. Danny rode home to grab a car and I decided to wait sitting on a large boulder on the edge of someone’s property. I realized that someone might look out and wonder what I was doing there, but I felt like the worse case scenario would be having to explain myself to a home owner or neighbor. Then I thought to myself, “What if I were a black man? Could I just sit on a boulder on someone’s property safely and wait for a friend to pick me up?”.

That’s white privilege right there folks.

I agree that this is white privilege. And you have made a useful first step in recognizing it. But how will you combat it? Will you donate to a bail fund for those unfairly arrested at protests? Will you advise members of your family to attend a protest, to do something concrete to fight racial injustice? Recognizing white privilege is not enough, but it is a good first step. What happens far too often, though, is that people think all the work is done when they point out their own privilege...but recognizing one's own white privilege is white privilege in itself! Now is the time for action!

I don't think anyone is doing it to "apologize for white privilege", and quite frankly that was a blatant strawman of my argument.

Apologizing for your white privilege is a necessary first step, but it is very important to remember that it is only a first step. Words without action are worthless. We can begin to dismantle a broken and unfair system.
