If people were actually going to jail for misgendering people, you would have a point. But it isn't happening. It will never happen.

Even under the law as written, in the worst case scenario, no one will ever go to jail for misgendering someone.
Oh yeah, this too. My god, so it's like if you want to be a dick several times over you still don't go to jail in a country that's not America wtf is this conversation oh yeah the dumbest I've seen in awhile.

But that is what you would be going to jail for. I would not pay a fine in that situation. No one is going to force me to use certain language. This is Soviet type crap.

Yes, technically you would be going to jail for not paying the fine, but what is the fine for?
Being an *******?

This is quite literally the dumbest discussion I've ever seen.

Just don't be a dick. Its pretty easy.
Being a dick is their LIFEBLOOD. Asking them to not be a dick is like asking them to stop breathing. They simply CAN’T, and WON’T, stop doing it. Just read this forum.

What is "misgendering"?
Never heard of that legal term.
Please define it.
Its being a dick. Don't be a dick.
Can we stop with the silly?

I'm quite serious.
I live in a very rural area.
We haven't had discussions over laws like this C - 16 thing.

Just exactly WHAT is misgendering?
Legally, by definition.

Please explain the legal meaning of the term.
Laws have consequences.
The verbiage, the definition of words are important.
What exactly is misgendering in law?

Misgendering is an act of bigotry. Pure and simple. Maybe not on a board like this, but in the everyday world you should never assume the gender of the person you are speaking with. It takes no time at all and can save a lot of hurt by just asking a person their preferred pronouns.

You seriously don't think making "What pronoun should I use when addressing you?" the first thing you say to a person isn't going to **** many of them off?
If so, you really are incredibly clueless and really need to take a step out of your FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR left Liberal bubble, into the real World.

Every email I send I sign it with my preferred pronouns, it is so easy to do :) Not to brag, but Elizabeth Warren does the same!

I'm continually amazed at old people acting like young people are crazy with literally no regard for when they were young and old people thought they were crazy.

Young people now do the pronoun thing. Who cares? You might **** up a pronoun thing in the future, know how to remedy it? Not being a dick. Most people can sense a genuine apology.

I am seriously gobsmacked at this one. Its so dumb. Just be kind to each other, it's a really easy thing to aim for.

Are you sure she's (apologies if she prefers something else) far enough left that you want to compare yourself to her?
6/10/2020 10:04 AM
She's not far enough left, and she does not do near enough for communities of color, but she CLEARLY was the Democrat's second best option in the primaries.
6/10/2020 10:08 AM
And I have received enough emails from her (and tweets :) ) that I know what her preferred pronouns are.

I've met some really, really "out there" people in my life. They'd make everybody else on these boards look moderate, but you are truly one-of-a-kind. (At least I surely hope so.)

Just out of curiosity, who was the Dems best option? (Forgive me for not checking back and elsewhere if you already mentioned this.) Please don't say Biden, as you'll instantly lose any and all credibility, as he was the most main-stream of their almost 20 candidates, which would go against everything else you've been saying.

6/10/2020 10:17 AM
You might not believe it all3, but most of my friends think I am too moderate.

I would never support Biden except in the situation where he was running against a real-life fascist. Which, unfortunately, is our reality in 2020.

I have been an active supporter of Bernie Sanders' campaign since 2015 (before I was even able to vote!).

I have no reason to believe you are lying, but like I said, you NEED to take a break from your radical Liberal bubble and visit the rest of the World - for your own good.

As a "you might not believe it" aside, I spent my teens and more being called a "wigger" by people of numerous races, so I LMAO when people who don't know me at all other than what they like to read into posts made here, that I'm racist. Nevermind they don't have any idea about the racial make-up of my family, friends, teammates, coworkers and/or neighbors. They'd rather jump to conclusions (as you did with the Trump-supporter stuff of someone you don't know and obviously haven't seen enough of) and try to be divisive.
