OK. So let's say that I agree with you that we should shut down our borders for 18 months because of COVID or other illnesses (although I hate to break it to you, but if bioterror happens, it probably will not be through immigrants. If a foreign country wants to commit a bioterror attack, closing our borders probably won't help).
Let's discuss the immigration policy after we re-open. Do you support Trump's asylum policy and why or why not?
I disagree. Much easier to send in a person with a disease that may not exhibit symptoms immediately. I could be wrong. As far was what it should be, I leave that up to the experts: Military/scientists/doctors to decide. I honestly cannot opine because I do not know how they keep us safe as I am not an expert in that field. You may need to set up a cruise ship and keep potential applicants there for a month and release them once they have a full bill of health? I am grasping at straws. This goes beyond Trump or Biden, it needs to be a bi-partisan action. IMO.
Sure. If you really want to protect against bioterror through immigration, we can impose some policies relating to that. I'm still curious what your opinion is/was on Trump's asylum restrictions, even before COVID.
I have read expert papers on bioterror, and don't think I have ever read speculation on whether it is possible to mass-infect people through immigration. If a country wants to infect us, sending immigrants is probably not the way to go.
