It isn't a moot point. You said that you would support shutting down for 18 months. Sure. That takes us to January 2022. We still have two years of "normal" Trump/Biden immigration policy. I want to talk about that, especially because you said that one of the reasons you support Trump was "borders". Whether or not you payed attention to it is irrelevant. It's still happening. And either way, it's never to late to learn :)

He can debate Trump and succinctly state these positions. I do not trust that the radical Left will not influence him and I do not believe he will make it through the 4 years. He seems slow to me. Just my opinion. If his VP is a Leftist then it goes against what I support. Hence Trump is the safer choice for me.

It bears mentioning that the most "successful" countries at stifling the spread of Covid have primarily been island countries that have essentially isolated themselves (Iceland, New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan) It doesn't seem as "racist" a policy when you can just turn away boats and planes, as opposed to some poor dude that is just driving over the border...

In January 2022 --- I would support whatever our scientists/doctors/military experts recommended, I hope. I cannot guess what that will be as this is unprecedented. I wanted stronger border security, yes and now it seems like I was wrong. Should have been significantly stronger. I think immigration needs to be shut down and only reopened once we have a brand new plan in place. What was in place before is honestly irrelevant. For example a gym that was appraised for $5mil in March 2020 likely appraises for half that if you're lucky today. So it is irrelevant to discuss what it was in March 2020 because we don't know what the future holds for gyms.

If you want me to opine on prior policies, I can but how is that productive?

I don't want to quote the long thread on immigration. What I will say about it is that it's important to look at Trump's previous policies because it is extremely likely that they will continue even after a vaccine is developed, regardless of your opinion. Furthermore, it is important to look at how Trump views this issue because it shows his complete lack of understanding in economics, the constitution, or morality. If Trump is re-elected, he will lead in a post-COVID world (most likely). Let's talk about what immigration looks like in that world.

He left it up to the Governors. How would you have handled it? I ask myself that same question. Very difficult. He held daily press conferences, he pushed through the PPP loans, he engaged private companies to build ventilators, he is pushing for a quicker vaccine. I am not sure what he could have done better or worse. To me China is the villain here. First death was Feb 29th and my kids were done with school and we were quarantined on March 16th and I still got the damn virus!

I am torn because several close friends and clients lost jobs and businesses were severely impacted. A lot of tears and long conversations.It was a very difficult time. Lot of long work nights from my basement.

Trump had a month to prepare for the virus and keep the economy in tact. He didn't. Look at us vs. the EU. Look at Florida right now. We're suffering because he's lazy and selfish and it's infected the majority of the GOP.
