I know I tempted fate a bit with second emails -- I sat them during my tough non-conference -- but I can't think of any reason why they haven't sent me the Thanks email yet. There are only two days left in the regular season.

I'm in a similar situation but with JRs... hoping some experienced person responds here.

Many players need 90% rate. You aren't there yet.

Some players need 100%, at least until a certain point in the season. It’s not a good idea to break promises during non conference. Personally, I generally don’t even consider breaking a promise until the 22nd game these days. I usually wait until final grades are posted.

Since when? Has anyone ever seen a player leave with 21 or more games?
8.0.3

TheWiz complained (a lot) about a guy who got mad and eventually left after missing one early start. I’ve heard of a couple other similar stories. Any broken promise apparently comes with some risk; the risk is usually pretty low.

I've seen them complain and lose WE but necessarily leave. But they don't fully regain WE which is bad in my book.

Happens when you drop below the 80% threshold early in the season.

This is a glitch, right? WIS has confirmed that 80% works right?
I’ve never heard of any such confirmation. I've seen a few different threads like this though, and seen guys talk about it in conference chats. 80 or 85 is a rule of thumb - I don’t think it is a rule to be “glitched”, almost certainly not since 3.0.

The 80% rule is nothing but a forum fact. ONCE, I had a kid leave despite starting 25/26 games and more than hitting his minutes threshold. I e always said every kid has a built in “number” to need to hit to be satisfied. Conversely I promised a kid a start and 25 minutes, left him off my depth chart intentionally, and he stayed. Lots of randomness in the staying/leaving decision.

I know this will be a very unpopular opinion, but this is why this game sucks to me. Any game should never tell players the inner workings of it. Sending a ticket for every stupid thing is in itself stupid. Play the game and face consequences when they happen to you. Again, just a nobody opinion.

I hear you on keeping the secret sauce secret for some of the behind the scenes algorithms - but two things:
1) if it is "random" it seems fair to let players know that...it's not like players can then "game" the randomness. If there's no identifiable feature that tells you whether a player has an 80% vs a 95% threshold there's literally no harm in mentioning that.
2) If it's not random and it fluctuates around 80-85% and that is the expected behavior communicated to the community, it does help CS/the game developers learn when something is wrong with the game...

Of the two options above, honestly option 1 makes more sense. It's a little more "unfair" but as we've noted in other threads, promises are too easy to give out at this point and it would be a welcome change to the game to make them more challenging by applying a randomness threshold to expectations around promise keeping and by extending the expectations into the CT and post-season.

Also - one other point on the general idea behind keeping the inner workings secret: there are some Nate Silver-level statisticians as well as other computer scientists, data scientists, game developers, etc. playing this game. It's inevitable that some of them can deduce some of the inner workings given enough data. It's fairer to the community when this info is shared rather than hoarded - but I do believe there is a line to not be crossed (i.e. if someone discovers a very specific formula that guarantees a win in every game, they should probably share that with the developers rather than keep it to themselves or share it with everyone).

Hi,

If the second message is negative, then there's a chance the player will transfer after the season. If the second message is positive, then the player won't transfer. You won't get a third message, just the initial complaint and the follow-up.

How much the player has played since the follow-up message does factor in to the transfer decision, so playing them more minutes now does help you.

Thanks.

Thanks for playing on WhatIfSports.

This feels wrong. I know I've gotten a third email after two complaints in the past.

Yeah I agree that is wrong. I have gotten a 3rd email. That being said, it sounds better to start players 100% of the time after the 1st email or at least make sure the player is above 80% on the season. That should probably be the new forum logic.
