I really, really don't want this to bump up against the ODL again. The ODL is the most important league to me and it was stressful as all hell doing this, ODL and SCPL at the same time.

That way taking a team through the playoffs and winning a ring would be worth 52 points. I like where your head is for this. I was going to suggest a progressive points system where it was like 1 point for a 1st round win, 2 for a 2nd, 3 for conf finals & 4 for finals... so kind of close to what you're suggesting but not quite as much. I like your idea more.

That is, if Kinoa and dh agree. It's dh's league after all. Just to be clear, it's only so you feel better about your chances for a little while, I'm still going to crush you. It's just so much more fun to crush hope, than it is to crush someone who has no hope. So giving you hope makes it more fun for me. Clearly.

Yeah I'm not doing this & the odl drafts at teh same time again. Unlike you, I'm easily choosing this one. I might not return to the ODL regardless, but if the drafts align, I'm definitely not returning to it.

we will definitely be changing the playoff scoring...i dont see a problem with changing it now if you and kinoa dont mind...im sure everyone else in contention would appreciate it

im going full dictator on this change...no vote on changing it

right now several owners seem to be in favor of the scoring pex suggested(myself included)...so as long as kinoa doesnt object, we will change it to that for at least these playoffs...if other owners call for a different scoring method, we could vote on that in the offseason

I'm cool with the playoff point change to start this season even though it doesn't help my chances of winning. Kinoa's 5 teams get 2 points per playoff win while I only have 4 teams earning, but its better for the league I think because it makes for a more meaningful playoffs. Kinoa and I have to face each other in 3 leagues before we reach the finals, so our head to head matchups will end up being the deciding factor between the two of us regardless of the playoff point structure. In other words, he's not going to win by default because of this change. He'll only win if he can win at least 2 of our head to head matchups in 3 leagues, in which case he'd probably would've won the crown anyway. Same for me, if I win the majority of those matchups, then I'll probably go on to win at least one league and overall points.

The playoff point change isn't charity either, I don't want a scenario where I don't win any leagues, but still win on total points. Meanwhile someone else wins 2 rings and gets 3rd. That would be a hollow victory, and I don't want that.

I absolutely think the playoff scoring should be changed. For next season. For this season … I mind. I drafted and built my teams specifically around this scoring method. Spreading the wealth so all 5 teams could make the playoffs, under this scoring method, seemed the strongest path to take. I'm still not certain that was the best decision, but now, if you change the scoring mid-stream, it will completely undercut my strategy. With the playoff scoring method you're proposing, I would have drafted and built my teams differently, basing it around having two or three super teams that had the best chance of winning a championship. Less 5 season mediocre players … more 2/3 season great players. Less spreading the wealth … more stacking. The current scoring method didn't place that kind of weight on the championship so I drafted and built my teams accordingly.

In no way do I think I'm a cinch to win this thing as it stands, specifically because I don't have a sure-fire championship team. But changing the scoring now could effectively eliminate me from contention.

That said … I get it. And if everyone wants this, I will go along with it. I would rather lose than be the one guy who holds up what would definitely make these playoffs more exciting.

I don’t mind leaving it as-is this season. Even though I’d benefit from a change, Kinoa has a point - he built his teams for these rules.

I’m just happy that I was able to be a contender for most of the year even with my crazy early Harden pick.

That said, I’m down for whatever.

Given that there doesn't seem to be a lot of correlation between pick slot and performance, but a general interest by owners a lot of time to have the first pick, I was thinking this for lottery odds: an owners losses as a percentage of total league losses. So for example, amerk1180 gets a 5.79% of the entries, lontallbrad gets 5.10%, bds9992 gets 5.08%... down to pexetera who gets a 2.89% share.
